More than half my day each day is in meetings. The worst was Tuesday when it was from 8:30 to 5:30 with only about 20 minutes in the middle for lunch.
And, most of the meetings look like this:
So, sometimes if can be hard to keep focused during them.
The good news is on Tuesday I got my prize I won in the drawing by that comic book author:
This Pokemon looks cute, but 666? I don’t trust it…
Wednesday some sort of pipe broke in the basement where we live that ended up needing to be pumped out into the street and leaving a very bad smell in the stairway.
The bad smell lasted until yesterday when I forced open the stairway windows.
Wednesday evening I went to the dentist as I needed to get a new crown to replace an old one that had gone bad. They have quite a Covid setup that includes cleaning each room after each person, full air filtration and this big thing they called "the elephant" they put over you when the drilling happens to pull everything away into a filter.
Last year I had a crown that took 278 days from start to finish.
I was not happy. I changed dentists.
This time I got there at 6:20 in the evening and left less than 2 hours later with the crown 100% done.
They’ve got a machine that cuts it there based on a 3D scan while you wait.
The cutting took about 1/2 hour, during which the dentist and I had a very interesting conversation about the materials used, the pros and cons of each, and the benefits of doing it all on site.
I like this machine.
Thursday I saw something I haven’t seen in many months, that used to be fairly common: An airport shuttle!
It’s a fairly big complex where we live so it was not at all unusual to see these vans picking up people or dropping them off.
Until Covid.
Not sure what it means that its’ back…
I did find a good use for my computer stand and the shelf under it.
Friday my department did its social meeting. Not many folks attended.
Erica, who organizes them, said she was going to switch next week’s invitation from "Optional" to "Mandatory". We’ll see what happens…
While I did start watching "Fiddler on the Roof" after that, I was reminded it was game night, so logged onto that instead.
We played a game about building a car. Sadly, as an engineer, I ended up with negative points.
To be fair, because I had forgotten the night I had missed the reading of the rules and was just trying to work it out on my own.
I did better at the old west game of shooting people while robbing a train…
Saturday my wife set up a zoom meeting for our Godkids and their family.
A mere two hours after the scheduled time, they logged on.
Our goddaughter is still sequestered due to Burger King, but she doesn’t mind, right?
Our godson is playing with himself.
On the saxophone! Just because he’s a teenager you shouldn’t think that…
Today I finished out taxes. They’re normally due in April. But, because of Covid they pushed it back 3 months. But, I still had to get it done.
It was also less smelly in the hallway so I caught up with our laundry.
Other than that, not much else this weekend.
Next week, we MAY go back to sword fighting. We’ll see…
