Bad maps

I tried to order a new mouse for my computer today. My current mouse works, but I’ve used it so much I’ve started to wear a hole in the side of the case.

As I use a Macintosh, I went to the Apple store and ordered a mouse. It asked if I wanted to just use the credit card linked with my iPhone to buy it, and I said yes.
My iPhone said "transaction failed".
But, I got an email from Apple saying "Your order is accepted".

I looked up the order and under payment it shows the last 4 digits of a card that does not match any of my cards.

I went to cancel the order. When I tried to click on the order link, it said "that doesn’t match your Apple ID. This ID goes to a location 'near Somerville MA'."

As Somerville is 50km away and has most of the population of my state between me and there, I said "that must be confused with someone else" and managed to cancel the order.

Thinking my ID was compromised I went through the lengthy process of updating it and my password on my computer, my wife’s computer, my phone, my iPad and my Apple TV.

As I do that, logging in from my iPad that was in my hand less than a meter from my computer, it says "someone is trying to log into your account from the area of Somerville".
The ID number matches the iPad in my hand 50km from Somerville with Boston between us.

And, as I did that, I was 3km from the second biggest city in my state. Somerville is the 16th.

So, rather than say "you’re 3km from Worcester" it considers 50km from Somerville as the best way to identify my location.
That’s just stupid.

ipad, annoyed, iphone, computer
