The week started with waffles. So, it couldn’t be too bad, right?
There have been all sorts of pollenating things going on this week, which have left me under the weather.
But, the trees are starting to have leaves. I like leaves.
Wednesday my company had a management retreat on Mindful Pauses in Leadership.
It involved meditation, "turning off" and focusing on important things.
It was specifically targeted for type A people. So, I failed a bunch of the tests.
"Turn your phone off, how does that feel?"
"Mine’s out in the car, should I go get it to turn it off?"
"No, sit there and meditate more."
Anyhow, driving out to the country club where it was held was very foggy.
The drive home was much less foggy.
But, I still managed to run into traffic.
Thursday was another trip to the dentist. But, I didn’t get the blue thing in my mouth this time.
In the evening we went to the new Avenger’s movie. It was very crowded.
Friday was another dreary day as we headed off to Game Night.
We only managed to play one game.
We didn’t stay too late, and went back across the rainbow bridge.
Saturday morning had very dramatic skies.
There was a very prominent rainbow.
It’s a nice drive out to western Massachusetts.
There are all sorts of landmarks.
We got to the symposium with plenty of time to spare.
It is a very nice place.
There were some folks there I didn’t like. But, they stayed away from me, I stayed away from them.
We did video the presentations for the librarian there Jeff.
Over lunch, Jeff gave his traditional tour of the basement with printing press and book vault.
I’m sure he doesn’t mind…
The book vault is one of my favorite places.
And, Jeff does like showing off his rare books.
He even gave a talk on them after lunch.
And, as long as they had cleaned and dried their hands, folks got to look at them.
The various talks went well. Everyone was riveted to them.
The guest of honor did two very interesting ones. One on honor in duels and one on using magic to cheat on duels.
Apparently it was very common to try and use magic bullets in shooting competitions.
We also had two talks given over the internet by people far away.
We drove home afterwards and stopped for dinner at the place where I am known as the noodleman.
On the way back we I took this photo which I think is a good representation of Worcester the city next to where we live.
