Tower Hill holiday lights
Nov 23, 2018 21:55
The botanical gardens near us have a holiday light special from Thanksgiving to Christmas each year:

You have to buy tickets ahead for a certain time and day. Ours were for 6:30 tonight.
So, about moonrise we set off.
It was a bit chilly.
Despite the timed tickets that could only be bought in advance, there was a 25 minute wait getting in.
They do light up the gardens quite a bit.
I thought this was very like the rainbow bridge.
With a nice lit area at the end.
And, it was very nice with the moon up.
They do go a ways into the woods.
They have green lasers playing through the trees.
Getting the trees, laser and moon in one shot was tricky.
Then, back towards the building.
They lit up their wild Rumpus, which has always been a favorite of my wife’s:

For scale, you can see my wife in the leftmost archway.
Cutting through the building they had a Christmas tree exhibit that was butterfly based.
They also had a giant bee hive.
They had a fire pit in the center courtyard.
This reminded me of a mean green mother from outer space…
Then, off to the front gardens.
I thought the lights under the snow looked very interesting.
My wife liked these.
Not real bears behind my wife.
As we were heading home there was still a line of folks trying to get in.
