I had to do a work conference call this morning so my wife took the Godkids to ihop for breakfast while I talked on the phone.
When they got back and we set off, it was raining fairly hard.
The rain continued as we crossed the Connecticut river.
The fog was around the mountains which looks very cool, but is hard to photograph.
The place we were going was near the smelliest place on earth. It is the "Yankee Candle" main store and HQ. About an acre of scented candles. Getting within mile of the place gives me a headache due to my allergies.
A bit past it was our goal.
We quickly moved through the introduction exhibits.
I used to work with these cockroaches when I worked at the science museum back in the 80’s.
Cool tails on these lizards.
We did see dragons too.
It was a fairly large place with a lot of butterflies.
Everyone was impressed.
OK, maybe a little.
Butterfiles.
Everyone was impressed. Right?
OK, a little.
The parrot was impressed.
My Godson did correct me. I was wrong. It was a teenage turtle.
I was still right about it not being mutant or ninja.
Did I mention butterflies?
Eventually we set off again into the soggy day.
We ate at a diner near the highway.
We saw a dog driving a car. Very unusual.
Then, off south to Connecticut.
Again, pretty mountains in the fog.
In Springfield I pointed out the garage where we clandestinely bought their dad a sword many years ago.
Hartford was as it normally is. Busy.
We went to the place just south of there where they have fossilized dinosaur footprints.
They were found while building a building and turned into a park and museum.
Everyone likes dinosaurs, right?
Then back home.
I’m sure no one minded time in the car on a rainy day.
