Urban Fare was--to be ghetto for a minute--"aight." I'm just happy I to do a bit of hip hop dancing once in my life, fulfilling my lifelong ambition to be an MTV video girl. :P Our dance was pretty short, about three minutes: a medley including Akon's "Bonanza" (guy/girl dance, fun & flirty); David Banner's "Play" (raunchy); and then Brooke Valentine's "Boogie Oogie" (full of energy). Looking at the short video, though, I think my underwear crept up whenever I had to bend down or shake it, which is horrifying. *facepalm* At least, it was nude-colored so people in the back can't really see.

I have my first flag football tournament tomorrow. Can you just look at these pointers one of our coaches gave us?!

on offense....
- when you are blocking, block with ur palms OPEN, fingers straight UP...if you point ur fingers out, you will get them jammed/broken.

- engage ur block with your arms comfortably bent at the elbows. (like your just about to push someone...) but DO NOT extend ur arms all the way...doing this takes away all ur leverage...if you keep your opponent close to you, you take away their ability to shed the block.

- stay low means bending ur knees and dropping ur butts...upper body is as straight up as possible...and look at what you are blocking...NEVER look down, lower ur head, or lead with ur head...that is how you sustain neck injuries.

on defense...
- remember on defense you should NOT be blocking anybody...you should be avoiding any blocking attempts on you and get your nose to the ball.

- if you do become engaged in a block, use ur swim/rip/spin moves to shed the block and find the ball....

-once again, there is NO blocking on defense...you should be avoiding blocks to get the ball.

- and talk to each other

OH HOLY JESUS. And I hear the George Mason girls are trolls too, thick, burly types. It's okay, our GPA's higher, bwahaha. < / Georgetown snobbery>

I'm mostly on defense, but man, I gotta remember to look at the ball. When the ball snaps into action, there's so many people rushing around or even towards me that I...kinda...sorta...maybe?...tend to forget that I have to look for it. It's not like basketball (which I've done before) where the court is confined and you can even hear the ball coming. And my biggest problem are the misdirections. I fall for those all the time...and by the time I do realize it, the offense is halfway down the field already.

Tomorrow's going to be a long day.

Okay, so this post isn't about Harry Potter. Sorry to burst your bubble. :P That's next weekend, along with (yay) P&P.
