Such a happiness when good people get together

I'll try not to make this recap post a total fangirl meltdown about Mr. Knightley.  "Try" being the operative word!

Until I re-read Emma recently, I had forgotten about the excursion to Donwell for strawberries!  I am glad this scene was included, for it shows not only how at home Emma feels at Donwell, but also how Mr. Knightley is probably the only one who can please Emma's father as well as Emma!

The infamous Box Hill scene.  Is it just me, or did it feel a little rushed?

I couldn't help but include this - oh how jealousy burns!

"Badly done, Emma!"

Modern adaptations are in danger of over-doing the hand close-ups though!

By the end of the series, I was more than a little irritated with Jane and Frank--his being an outrageous flirt and her too meek a Jane to truly be a rival to Emma.  I felt like as disgruntled as  Mr. Knightley:  "They'll be off to Weymouth soon!"

Hiding from Mr. Knightley.  It seemed a little amiss that Harriet was glossed over in the end, despite her happy marriage to Robert Martin.

I was watching this at the same time that the Superbowl was going on, so I couldn't help but mix the two:  "Touchdowwwwnnnn!!!"

Emma trying to break off the engagement.  She may be a little wiser, but she's forever going to be overdramatic.

Telling her father.  Now this hand close-up had me going "awwwww"

The fathers in Jane Austen are often flawed, sometimes ridiculous, but almost always lovable.

The end to a marvelous adaptation
