My favorite part of Saturdays is waking up earlier than everyone else in the house, and basking in how quiet it is. There's no television on, no sounds of my Dad and younger sis bickering as usual over the mess in the living room.
Just...quiet.
I look back on that now, of course, because everyone else has woken up and the house no longer feels mine anymore. My mom is away on a brief weekend trip to Detroit with my grandma, and so that leaves me in charge of feeding a rather hapless father and 16 year old sister. I think they started to mildly panic when I presented them with my "menu" for the weekend:
Friday night: 1 can of sardines
Saturday Breakfast: Am I supposed to wake up on time to feed you?
Saturday Lunch: Christmas leftovers
Saturday Dinner: New Year's leftovers
Sunday Breakfast: Find it yourself, I'm sleeping!
Sunday Lunch: 1 can of Spam (it's a Filipino/Asian thing!)
Sunday Dinner: Cup noodles.
Of course, I made chocolate chip pancakes and scrambled eggs this morning instead.
