Forecast for rain? no creo!

I'm packed. Well, in all honesty, I think I've packed too much (my friends won't believe that one) but it's better to be over prepared than under. This is scarier than studying abroad, in a way: there won't be any van waiting to drop me off at a dorm; there won't be an orientation with a "Bienvenidos" sign. It's just me and Morgan..and our guide books! As my mom always says, though, one thing at a time.

Today my family and I had an early birthday dinner at a Chinese/Asian buffet, i.e. a place where you pay for your food coma. All you can eat sushi, Chinese food, noodles, Korean pancakes...I never want to give that stuff up, amen. Although one thing that bugged me was that the sushi table (where I could pick off a whole roll of 6 if I could) was right in front of the sushi chefs, so they were eyeing you as you selected your sushi. It was so unfair! Of course you're going to get fewer if you are in front of a gruff-looking chef wielding a huge fish knife. I also started receiving presents via mail and from my family; my parents gave me an awesome set of earrings. Wearing real jewelry is unnerving, and definitely not something natural for me, but they are gorgeous. Another highlight of the day was Kate's package!! I'm going to photograph it as soon as I get back, because she got me a package of Shapes crackers and a Moro bar, plus other NZ-esque stuff!!! Jackie, you better run back to New York even if you're enjoying your vacation in Hawaii or these chicken-flavored crackers will be gone.

It's getting late so I better head to bed. Here's to a week and half of no sleep, no beloved hair dryer and straightener...but a land full of bars and historic monuments. Good times. Oh, and one last thing. My senior friends, Nicole and Stephanie, graduated today!!! Congratulations, you made it, and more than that, you're on your way to successful careers. I'm going to miss you terribly next year; you've left big shoes to fill on campus and in my everyday life.

adventure, birthday festivities, only georgetown, al espana
