Kamenashi Kazuya and Junnosuke Taguchi were not the usual pair to parade the famous JE fanservise on stage. But behind the scene; a different story to be told, history that they shared.
The two may have opposite personalities with Junno being the care-free soul, smiling earnestly at everything; while Kame, though being the youngest in the group, was much grounded, smiling politely as he carried everything on his small shoulders.
Thanks to the differences, they clicked; influencing each other subtly, leaning on each other strengths and weaknesses. But after years walking on such thin lines between friendship and what-not, threading on the uncertainties; one of them might bound to snap.
“I think he’s hiding something” Kame plopped himself on the couch next to Koki, pouting dramatically seeking for some attention. He gingerly leaned closer resting his head on Koki’s sturdy shoulder.
And being Koki, he shifted slightly allowing the other to comfortably nestling next to him; never failed to shower and spoiled Kame with all the attention he needed “Who?”
Sighing under his breath, Kame replied almost in a whisper “Junno. He’s been acting weird lately.”
A soft chuckle escaped Koki’s throat “He has always been weird.”
Kame shook his head; his fluffy brown hair bounced freely “No” Kame replied curtly then with lower tone he replied “I think he’s avoiding me.”
“Huh?” Koki scorned
Koki was about to reply to Kame when the guy in question stepped in, clad in his favorite gym sweatshirt with a small towel draped on his shoulder. Koki quickly changed his tone “Oh Junno, we were just talking about you.”
“Really?” Junno asked cheerfully, slumped himself onto the empty seat next to Koki. But his bright smile turned slightly bitter when he saw Kame and Koki staring and nudging each other, seemed to be in their own world.
Yelping in pain, Koki grabbed Kame to motion him to keep quiet “We are going out for Ramen, wanna join?”
Junno paused; mixed expressions were shown clearly on his handsome face. Then with a tired smile he replied “Sorry can’t join you guys. I have other arrangement.”
Both Koki and Kame went completely silence, surprised by the answer. It was really rare for Junno to decline a dinner invitation.
But before Koki or Kame could reply, Junno stood up and bowed slightly “I’m going for my shower.”
As soon as Junno’s back disappeared from their line of sight, Kame said sulkily “I told you he’s avoiding me.”
“Is it because you’ve been stealing his gag-lines lately?” Koki asked a bit too seriously.

“That’s a wrap” the photographer announced, clapping his hands to congratulate and thanked everyone for their hard work.
The boys cheerfully bowed to the crew, waving goodbye as they exited the studio heading towards their dressing room.
“You look kinda down” Maru asked, frowned in concern. Koki was not far behind, cheerfully biding goodbyes to the others. Junno and Ueda whom finished half an hour ago, were nowhere to be seen.
“Nothing” Kame replied quietly. Thoughts wandered over the missing guy, wondering why the usual bubbly member brushed him off coldly. ‘Could Koki be right about the gag-line? But still, Junno is not the type to take such thing to heart. No matter how hard the team teased him; his bright smiles never fail to shine.’
Kame frowned at the thought, sighing quietly, oblivious to the worried stare Maru was giving him.
“What are you doing?” Kame heard Ueda’s voice from outside of the room.
Kame quickened his strides.
As soon as Kame and Maru stepped in, Junno quickly closed his notebook and tossed it into his red duffle bag, suspiciously hiding something from his group members. The two of them exchanged glances but Juno quickly avert his eyes and sheepishly replied “A secret.”

“Kame, are you free tomorrow night?” Junno suddenly asked.
The empty studio fell into an awkward silence as Kame stared blankly at the taller guy; expressionless.
Junno stood still, sighing quietly under Kame’s scrutinized eyes. Not sensing a reply, he continued with a hesitant smile “I’m not sure if you know about this, but Toshinobu Kubota is having a small private gig tomorrow night at one of the clubs in Ikebukuro."
Kame’s silent stare lighted up at the mention of his favorite performer. But being true to his stubborn self, Kame refused to give in “So?”
“I happen to have 2 free tickets” Junno replied carefully “And I wonder if you would like to go with me?”
“So, you just decided not to ignore me anymore?” Kame leaned back on his seat, arms folded firmly around his sweater-clad chest.
“I never ignore you” Junno quickly replied in defense, but he didn’t sound convincing even to himself.
“Hmm” Kame pouted slightly but his lips spread into a smile a moment later “Since it’s Toshi-san, you’re forgiven.” Then with a swift he held out his hand “So, where’s my ticket.”
“Ah, that’s the problem” Junno scratched his head; eyes fixed on the floor “I left it at home.”
“Seriously?” Kame asked in disbelief “But I don’t have any group schedule tomorrow.”
“I know” he nodded “Would you mind dropping by my place tomorrow. Maybe we can ride together or something” Junno answered with his infamous bright smile.
Before Kame could reply, the door burst open and loud laughter immediately fills in. Koki was seen walking in, arms around Maru’s shoulder. Both instantly turned their attention towards Kame who was seen smiling quietly at his corner.

“Are sure this is the right place?” Kame asked as he pulled into the half empty parking area “No one is here?”
“I’ve told you it’s a secret gig. Only close friends and families can get hold of theses tickets” Junno replied, flipping his ticket in front of Kame.
“Even the ticket looks kinda suspicious” Kame replied, staring at his piece of glossy card “Besides, are you really sure your cousin knows him?”
“You can go back if you want to. I can just get a taxi later” Junno pouted, looking hurt at Kame’s statement, snatching the ticket from Kame’s loose grip.
“It’s not like that” Kame quickly snatched it back. Then he quickly apologize “Sorry. Didn’t mean to hurt you.”
Junno smiled again “I’ll go in first. At least allow 10 minutes gap before you enter” Junno opened the car’s door carefully.
“Why?” Kame quickly asked before Junno could close the door again.
“To avoid scandal of course” he replied between smiles as he closed the door, leaving Kame confused.

“Here’s your seat sir” a waiter dressed in casual white and black uniform pulled a chair for Kame.
But sitting at the front row in the empty hall made Kame anxious “Where’s the other guest? Did I get the wrong time?”
“No sir” he shook his place and nodded quietly before he retreated to his post.
Then suddenly a bright spotlight lighted up the small stage, focusing on a shining piano at the corner. A moment later, the spotlight moved towards the opposite corner, revealing a familiar guy, standing tall with a contend smile. It was Junno.
He then walked across the stage, headed behind the piano; adjusting the small standing mic to fit him “This song is dedicated to a special guy named Kamenashi Kazuya.”
As soon as Junno hit the piano’s key, Kame instantly knew the song; Beside You by Toshinobu Kubota, one of Kame’s favorite ballads. Junno sang beautifully, voice filled with collected emotions, hitting the high note effortlessly. He was a different person, shining brightly right in front of Kame’s eyes.
Kame was still in daze when the song ended; the deafening sound of his heartbeat was ridiculously loud, he was afraid the whole club could hear it. But when Junno finally stood in front of him, everything finally makes sense.
“Can I stay by you side?” Junno’s voice was soft, eyes pouring his soul.
Kame bitted his lips “So is this your secret?” he asked plainly, trying his best to sound aloof.
“You’re my secret” Junno replied confidently.
“We are two guys” Kame answered.
“So, is this wrong?” Junno asked hesitantly, feeling his world about to crumble.
“Stop treating me like I’m a girl. You don’t have to go through all the trouble to serenade me” Kame replied nonchalantly. Then he pulled himself up and wrapped his arms around the taller guy “Getting me an expensive wine would do.”
Junno heaved a relief, instantly pulled Kame in. They closes the gap, lips met for the very first time; wrapping their arms tightly around each other as Kame’s smaller body molded in perfectly into Junno’s lanky build.
“Sorry for ignoring you. I was working on the song and I was afraid you’ll find out” Junno whispered into Kame’s ears, lips tracing on Kame’s stubborn jaw.
“It was beautiful” Kame tilted his head further, allowing access to the other. But then he snapped his head and stared directly into Junno’s surprise expression, putting unwanted distance between them “But does this mean we are not going to watch Toshi-san’s show?”
Junno blinding smile reappeared as he pulled an envelope out “I got two tickets.”
“For real?” Kame squint his eyes suspiciously.
“Seriously” Junno nodded earnestly.
Kame circled his arms and pulled Junno closer once again “I love you.”
“I know” Junno’s musical laughter filled the small hall “And I love you more.”
