A/N : Hi guys...I'm still here. Sorry I've been away from fandom lately. My muse had left and refused to return. RL have not been too kind either. But not to worry, I'll be alright...
Anyway, this is a surprise dedication for Lori-chan (
sweetspicyhot), to thank her for the lovely OhnoKame she wrote for me. ^_^
Maru had always been the predictable one, while Kame simply does as he pleases. Though it annoyed him most of the time, Maru had decided long ago that’s just the way they roll.
Maru stopped at Kame's Going dressing room on his way to Shuichi’s set to tell him that he wouldn't be able to meet for lunch. The usual busy room was surprisingly empty; leaving Kame all alone attending his notes.
As he broke the news, Kame nodded indifferently, eyes fixed on his script. But as he about to leave the room, Kame stood up, eyes unreadable as we walked towards the other, standing well within Maru's personal space.
It wasn't all that unusual for Kame to invade his space; it’s just another quirk Maru learn to accept. But, lately it had been harder to remain stoic. Maru took an involuntary step backwards; eyeing the younger guy cautiously, wondering what was going on in his head.
“Maru, do you like me?” Kame looked at him expectantly, as if his answer will change everything.
Maru blinked hesitantly, wondering whether Kame’s trolling again “What kind of stupid question is that?”
A smile toyed with the corners of Kame's mouth “It’s totally a valid question. Do you like me or not?”
“I’m not sure what drink they are giving you on set, but really think you should stop taking it” uncertain why, but Maru was feeling slightly nervous, trying his best not to stammer.
“I see” Kame pursed his lips “Is that your answer?”
Maru took another step backward, unconsciously heading towards the exit “Look, I have to go; I'm going to be late for the recording."
“Sure” Kame reply with a soft voice, averting his eyes, calmly returning to his corner “Close the door, please.”
**************
“Something is wrong with Kame” Ueda said in a soft voice, elbowing Maru to look at Kame’s direction. The youngest member was flirting and smiling generously at the camera, changing pose smoothly without any instruction.
Maru looked up and gazed at the direction “What about him? He looks perfectly fine to me.”
“Hmm. Something is bothering him. His smile doesn’t reaches his eyes” Ueda replied, attention returned to his note book, tapping his pencil rhythmically.
“So poetic” Maru mocked and garnered a death glare from the other.
The truth is, he knew Ueda was right. Especially since Kame have been avoiding him for the past couple of days.
Sighing deeply, he was about to comment on it when suddenly a pair of hand landed on his shoulder, shoving him for some space. Maru squeezed himself allowing Koki to join “Well, I heard he’s attending an Omiai tomorrow.”
“Omiai?” Maru screeched, earning him a painful jabbed on his ribs. He yelped, jumped off to his feet, eyes strained towards Kame. The other looked at him with questioning eyes.
Their eyes met. Maru nodded apologetically and quickly lowered his head as he returned to his seat.
“Low your voice, will you” Koki warned through greeted teeth, smacking Maru hard on his head.
Ueda put down his lyric’s book, leaning closer to get the full detail “Are you sure? Who told you?”
Koki shook his head, answering with a low voice “This morning, he was talking on the phone with his mom, I think, saying that he won’t be late for the omiai, and promise to dress nicely. Well, along those lines.”
“Are you sure?” Ueda asked, his gaze traveled to the guy in question, eyeing him with doubt “Maybe it’s just a family dinner or something.”
With squinted eyes, Koki firmly shook his head, whispering “No. I heard the word Omiai clearly.”
“But he’s only 26th. Isn’t he too young to settle down? Besides, I don’t think Johnny will be please with this” Maru replied in denial, adding in softer voice “And, Kame is not the type to accept such arrangement right?”
While they were still contemplating whether the news is true or not, Junno suddenly appeared out of nowhere, beaming excitedly “Guys, have you heard about Kame’s omiai?”
****************
He woke up with a major headache. Eyes were red and puffed due the lack of sleep, pondering over the ‘What if’.
Ruffling the sheets as he rolled lazily on his bed, Maru reached for the phone, checking his emails and schedules for the day. Lunch with Junno seemed too troublesome now.
Then his eyes caught a meeting invitation left by the person that had been messing in his head all night long; Dome concert meeting was written in the subject box. The agonizing memories came flooding again.
“Fuck. I’m not letting you ruined my day” he shouted to no one, kicking the cover to the floor.
****************
“Maru, is this the right place?” Junno followed closely behind, slightly out of breath as he tried hard to catch up with the other “I though we’re going to the new Ramen shop.”
Pushing the glass doors open, he scanned the coffee house nervously, looking for the familiar honey brown mob, he replied “Well, I heard their strawberry shortcakes are the best in town.”
“Maru, what are we doing here?” Junno tilted his head; arms wrapped around his chest “Are we stalking someone?”
Not bothering to reply, he then headed straight to the petite girl, standing behind the counter “Excuse me miss, is Kamenashi-san here?”
“I’m sorry…” clearly stammered slightly, confused at the sudden intrusion.
Junno tugged Maru’s sleeves with a slight force, trying to get his attention “Maru stop it.”
Ignoring the plea, Maru faked another smile as he continued “We’re looking for Kamenashi Kazuya. I believe his family have an arrange lunch appointment here. There’s an urgent matter that we need to~”
“Maru…Junno…what are you guys doing here?” Kame suddenly appeared behind them, clad in dark grey suit, looking dashing as ever. His parent and younger brother, Yuya, who were all dressed formally, were just as surprised as he was.
Both Maru and Junno quickly bowed to the others, but before Kame could asks for the explanation, Maru grasped Kame’s wrist and stared directly into Kame’s widen eyes “We need to talk.”
Kame was not even given a chance to response, as Maru bowed to the Kamenashi, almost apologetically, dragging their older son out of the coffee house. Junno jogged not far behind, wondered whether he need to inform Koki and Ueda over the unexpected turn of event.
Walking straight to the emergency exit near the elevator, Maru pushed the door open and shoved Kame out almost violently, turned around and grimly ordered Junno to stay “Stay. Watch the door for us.”
Junno wanted to protest, but Maru's aura was so dominating, he succumbed to it.
Closing the door carefully, Maru took a deep breath before turning his attention to Kame.
If Kame was nervous, he clearly hides it well “So, what’s so urgent?”
“Stop messing with me” Maru took another lengthy stride toward Kame, looked down at him through his eyelashes, noticing how eyes suddenly appearing to burn scorching hot, sending a thrilling shiver down his spine.
“What are you talking about? You are the one who suddenly appeared out of nowhere?” Kame replied defensively, but for the very first time, he was unexpectedly nervous being held by Maru, in such position.
“What are you doing here, Kame?” he asked with softer voice, eyes searching for an answer.
Kame froze, but then slowly response “There’s an Omiai~”
Leaning toward him and brushing a stray lock of Kame's hair into place, he whispered "But I thought that you like me?"
"Maybe?" Kame replied hesitantly, realizing he was not able to take another step backward as his back hit the wall “But the other day you were saying…”
"Do you taste as good as you smell?" Maru had murmured, his eyes shifting to Kame's mouth. Before Kame had had a chance to reply, Maru leaned closer and pressed his lips against the other. The world had suddenly melted and disappeared, and all that had remained had been the incredible sensation.
"Mmm," Maru murmured with a smile, "you do."
“Maru…” Kame’s face was flushed hot “I don’t understand.”
"You don’t need to attend any Omiai" he replied, his voice deep with emotion. "You have me."
Then Maru saw Kame’s thin lips twitched, as small smirk appeared at the corner of his mouth “I see… Are you really sure?”
“Definitely” he replied with conviction, squeezing Kame’s hand tightly to assure the other "It's crazy. I know. But, I can't stand the 'What if' anymore."
“Let's talk about this later. Dinner maybe? My place?" Kame licked his lips unconsciously.
"Dinner sounds great" Maru gave Kame's hand another squeeze.
"Great. I'll see you tonight... Well, I better decline today’s arrangement, then.” Kame leaned closer and planted a brief peck on Maru’s cheek. But before he leaves, Kame smiled brightly “Ne Maru. It’s not really my Omiai today. It’s actually for Yuya” Kame gave him a wink and disappeared behind the door.
Again, he was being trolled.
Maru was not sure whether he should thank or kill Koki. Maybe he should just start with Junno first.
