A/N : (1) A special birthday fic for the lovely rim1789 . Dear hope you like this fic. I did tried to make it less angsty, but I guess my current mood was not fluffy enough. But nevertheless, I really hope you like this coz I really enjoy plotting it
(2) I always get extra nervous writing Pikame coz this pair is so precious to me. Hope I do justice to the pair in this fic *_*
10 Reasons Why I Love You
1. Your nauseatingly clinginess
Pi doesn’t get it. He really doesn’t get it.
Jin has everything an idol-to-be could wish for. His cheerful nature which sometime makes him an airhead, his notable natural good looks which most of the Juniors would love to have, his vocal range and artistic ability are definitely worth a shout out and most importantly he’s hanging out with the right crowd ie Ryo and himself.
So when Jin starts inviting the scrawny, odd looking kid named Kamenashi Kazuya to their weekly hangout, Pi could not help it quirking his brows in nothing close to contentment. Sure he notices that Jin has weird taste sometimes but that is not a valid excuse. Not to Yamashita Tomohisa that is. Well he’s not being vain and shallow, that’s Ryo’s roles, but he just doesn’t understand it.
And what Pi could not understands the most is Kame clinginess towards Jin. They are practically glued at the hips and sometimes he can senses that Kame is hiding behind Jin, figuratively and literally.
“Why do you always do that?” Pi reaches his limit of annoyance and decides just to shoot it out. It just happens that it is Jin’s turn to get their orders. Ryo absence makes it much easier as well.
The guy stiffens greatly avoiding eye contact and unquestionably wishing for Jin’s immediate return from flirting with the cashier. Then with hesitant voice he asks “What do you mean?”
Pi notices the shades of pink slowly creeping on the guy cheeks. Well everyone knows pink is his favorite colors. He inches himself closer to the small round table placing both of his hands on it “Why are you so clingy around Jin? Do you fancy him?”
“I’m not. He’s just my best friend” the guy quirks nervously.
Pi smirks devilishly staring at the fidgeting guy, amused “Yeah right. Then why are you avoiding eye contact? Are you hiding something? Or are you scared of me?”
Then suddenly the guy raises his head and stares directly into his eyes, pouring his soul in it “Because it’s you; the cool guy every juniors longing to be.”
At that moment Pi could feel the chill spring season warming up incredibly. It finally makes sense now.
2. Your determination to bottle up everything
Everyone makes mistake; especially young boys growing up where fights are inevitably.
This applies to Kame and himself which he can’t even remember what it was all about. But being true to their egoistic self, they simply move on ignoring each other. Everything is in order until the fateful day when Johnny-san decides to interfere.
When Pi first found out that he’ll be acting alongside Kame for a new series, he feels like crushing Johnny-san for being a manipulating bastard who clearly knows about the legendary fights between the two. After a short pep-talk from the reliable Ryo, Pi decides to march to Johnny and give him his piece of mind.
But fate seems to have a different idea.
On his way to the big guy office, Pi’s journey halts when rough demanding voices fill the corridor. He tip toed and hides behind an exit door of the emergency staircase, peeking carefully to the source of chaos.
“You’re such a selfish bastard” Jin’s creaking voice fills with hatred. It’s definitely the first time Pi witness such incident, he shivers silently. He cranes his neck to see to whom it’s directed to.
“It was not my decision” squeaking voice of Kame clearly on the edge of tears but Pi notices the younger guy try to hide it by being defensive. Not the best way he reckons.
“Fuck it’s not your decision” Koki kicks their dressing door and disappears into the room. Taguchi looks down and follows closely.
“I could really scar your ugly face right now” scary Ueda raises his fist fills with determination.
But luckily the sensible Nakamaru is nearby, pulling the feisty hime away. But he too left a hurtful remark before following the earlier two “I’m really disappointed in you.”
Pi could not imagine himself being in such situation and he’s definitely not prepared to overhear Jin’s next statement before he walks off “I hate you.”
Just as much as he hates to see the loathed and hatred sparks from Jin’s eyes, his heart unexpectedly bleeds at the sight of hurt and despair in Kame’s eyes.
A moment later Pi almost had a heart attack when Kame suddenly walks pass him towards the emergency staircase. Kame seems to be in his own world oblivious to Pi’s stalking state as he makes his way to the rooftop.
Pi wanted to walk away and continues his journey to Johnny’s office. But instead he climbs that steep staircase and pushes the heavy door revealing a lonely figure leaning on the cold metal rails. The chilling breeze reminds him of the past.
He fakes a cough and waits for a reaction. Seeing none, Pi moves forward and settles next to the scrawny figure. After a minute in silence, Pi carefully glances towards the guy half expecting a tear streak face. But none visible except soft gleams of sun rays reflected in those brown orbs.
And at that moment it finally sinks in how strong, devoted and stubborn the youngest member of KAT-TUN always been in holding back everything on his shoulder.
“Let’s forget about our silly fight” Pi finally finds his voice. “Let’s make this series a success.”
Pi doesn’t even realize that he’s holding his breath waiting for Kame’s reaction until he heaves in relief at the sight of a weak nod from the other. Then he surprises himself when his arms moves naturally around Kame and tucks him closer “Let’s go for dinner. My treat.”
3. Your insecurities drives me crazy
The NWP staff and crew are the most supporting and enthusiastic bunch he ever met. But then again he really hasn’t done that much drama to make such comment valid. Nevertheless he finds himself looking forward to go to the set every single day. Especially knowing certain Kamenashi Kazuya will be sitting at a corner with the script burying his nose. The guy never fails to be the first to greet him.
“You’re early again” the folded chair squeak faintly as he moves it closer next to Kame.
“I didn’t know we are competing?” a faint smile spreads over his thin lips.
Pi pulls his bag and draws out his script “Well, I’m a very competitive guy you know.”
Then he sees the guy opens his mouth to say something but he quickly changes his mind and pretends to focus on his script again.
“You know, it drives me crazy when you do that” he quietly mumbles knowing Kame could still hears him. “Why can’t you just say it out aloud? Friends are supposed to share everything freely.”
“I better not. I can’t afford to lose another friend” Kame reply almost in whisper before he carefully pushes his chair back and walks towards Maki-chan.
4. Your stubbornness is legend
It’s never easy to accept changes. It’s scary most of the times.
Pi of all people understands it perfectly how difficult it is losing one of your group member. Heck, he went through hell when NEWS lost Uchi and Kusano.
So he perfectly recognizes how tough it is when Jin suddenly announces that he’ll be going to US to study English. But he wishes Kame would not be that stubborn and just stops hiding his feelings.
“Are you not going to bid him goodbye?” Pi asks as they sit in a quiet café’ fills with subtle smell of coffee.
“I’ll give him a call later” Kame sips his dark brew drinks quietly with an expression hard to be read.
He sighs deeply, wanting so much to shake the cold and lifeless stares off the younger guy “Are you really okay with the whole arrangement?”
Pi’s gazes fixed on the other, observing his graceful movements of placing his drink down “It’s really not my decision to make.”
Only then he realizes the hurtful eyes the other hides so well resurfaced again. And just like the last time, the eyes are stubbornly holding back the tears.
5. Your fanservice makes me cringes
Kokame is the new Akame.
That seems to be the new tag line in JE.
Being a Johnnies has thought him everything about how to make it big and how to stay relevant in the industry. But still he could not fathom the importance of fanservice as the marketing strategy. Sure he doesn’t argue on it and all the times he play along to such notion.
But seeing Kame grinding affectionately with Koki on the stage makes him nauseating. And he doesn’t even want to recall the other slutty and kinky things Kame actually strides to the cheering crowd.
“Do you really have to do all those stuff?” he passes a small towel to the sweaty guy backstage. They just finish their countdown concert rehearsal and everyone seems anxious to get the whole thing over with.
“What stuff?” Kame wipes his forehead and slowly revealing his neatly trimmed eye brows.
Pi bits his lips involuntarily “Obnoxious fanservise.”
The guy turns around shamelessly stares at Pi intensely “It’s just an act.”
With a twitches lips he replies solemnly “I know.”
6. Your workaholic nature is sick
It is not a surprise seeing how big KAT-TUN has grows.
Knowing all the nitty-gritty that the group has gone through makes Pi feels much more proud and happy for their success.
But as always, such success will dwell so much expectation and knowing the perfectionist the youngest member is Pi has expected the guy to say yes to every job given to him.
And that hideous eye bag says it all.
7. You can be fake sometimes
The day everyone dreads finally happens. Jin finally announces his official departure from the group he used to be proud off.
And that is also the day KAT-TUN stands close to each other, wearing their most composed mask. The national TV captures everything that need to be captured, but Pi can’t help it feeling the fakeness in every word, in Kame’s strained voice and the expressionless smile.
But he definitely doesn’t expect to receive a text message from Kame.
From: Kame
Are you free?
Pi replies immediately knowing how Kame changes his mind so easily
From: Pi
Yes. I’m at home.
Pi almost believes that Kame had changes his mind when there’s no reply after that.
Half an hour later, his heart stops beating when he opens his door and sees Kame standing at his doorway in tear streaked face.
“Can I come in?” a shaky voice comes out.
In that instant Pi reaches out for the fragile figure's wrist and pulls him in, wrapping him tight within his arms giving all warmth he has to offer.
8. Your non-confession sucks big time
One might expect after all those years of flirting and hip swaying with each other will make a confession comes easier. Well, it doesn’t. And what harder is when those acts become so natural, what’s real becomes so hard to differentiate.
It is one of their movie nights at his home when Pi finally had it playing hide and seek “What do you want from me?”
“Some more coke and popcorn would be nice” the empty bowl feels so light in his hands. Almost light enough to hit Kame’s pretty head.
“You do know how I feel right?” Pi stammers incoherently.
Kame stares piercingly into his eyes making him feels like a silly high school boy all over again. Then suavely the guy leans closer and pecks his cheek “Of course Shuji understand. Silly Akira.”

Rumors have always been nasty no matter how small and ridiculous it is.
As much as they wanted to believe that such stupid rumors won’t hurt their group, it still hurts when the cold stares and careful hush behind his back caught his ears.
“I’m telling you guys it’s such a stupid and baseless rumor” he tries his best to calm himself but he realizes he’s not doing a good job after all.
“We get you. But I disagree that it’s baseless” Koyama replies with a curt smirk.
“What that supposed to mean?” his bits his lips, trying to refrain himself from doing something hasty.
“Well, you’ve been doing a lot of solo activities lately. And after Jin left, you can’t really blame such people to come up with this story right?” Shige adds nonchalantly.
Pi doesn’t really remember what did happen next. All he knows the cold concrete floor of the rooftop helps to simmer down his anger. And the clear blue sky soothes him greatly.
“There you are” a sudden voice interrupts his meditation. He raises his head to peek at the source and his earlier intention to bitch dies immediately.
He returns to his previous position “What are you doing here.”
Kame doesn’t reply. He simply lay down onto the floor next to Pi. They stay in such comfortable silence, admiring the open sky and letting themselves engulf by the sweet smells of spring.
It’s rather shocking when he suddenly feels Kame’s hand holding his before their fingers entwined perfectly. The warm sensation running through his veins is definitely a feeling he will never forgets. He wanted to say something witty, but he simply doesn’t trust his own voice to do so.
“Do you still remember the day you invited me for dinner at this very rooftop” Kame offers, breaking the silence.
Pi nods slightly “How could I forget. Why?”
He feels the stubby fingers tighten around his “Well, it’s my turn to treat you dinner.”

Waking up in the middle of the night has never been welcoming before.
But things have changed since they finally crossed those thin lines defining their relationship of all those years.
Now, waking up at any odd hours and seeing Kame's serene sleeping face is something Pi look forward to.
Kamenashi Kazuya is far from perfect. But Yamashita Tomohisa loves his flaws anyway.
