The corridor was awfully quiet, echoing his lonely steps towards the poorly lit stretch. The small cheap motel was definitely a wrong place for him and forbid to be seen at. But being logic was not in his priority at that moment, especially when dragging his heavy feet were nothing compare to the weight his heart was carrying. He reached the end of the floor, lazily glancing to the uncharacteristic number on the door. Slowly, his meticulous fingers lightly brought the cold metal key into the key hole, giving a subtle turning before edging himself in.
The strong smell of cigarettes welcomed him as he closed the door behind without even bothering to light up the small room. The four walls were only illuminated immersing street lights, shadowing the queen size bed right in the middle of the room. With only few strides, he was already standing next to it.
A soft creaking sound filled in the room as he lowered his back to the unfamiliar bed, ignoring the damp smelling agonizing his nostrils. He stared at the ceiling blankly half expecting the darkness will slowly swallow him up.
The rhythmic sound of his expensive watch was distracting, glancing at it with a heavy sighed before kicking off his shoes and pulled himself fully onto the raspy bed.
Getting comfortable was not on his agenda but being bothered by violent ringing tone was the least he needed. Deciding to ignore it, he tossed the phone aside and starts to curl himself, tugging his knees close to his chest. Unfortunately the abruption didn’t end as his caller was too stubborn to give up, calling again and again. With closed eyes he reached for the phone and picked it up.
But before he could greet the caller, he was addressed with a high pitched voice he knows so well “Where the hell are you?” the other demanded.
“Somewhere” he answered lowly as he turned to the other side, hugging the hard pillow tightly.
“Kame stop playing games” the stern voice implored his ear drums.
Another tired sigh escaped his throat “I’m alright Koki. I just need some time alone.”
“It is not alright Kame” the other end finally returned to his senses, using much civilized voice even though still tainted with wariness. “Maru and I are here at your place.”
Kame interjected quickly before Koki could continue “You guys don’t have to check on me. I won’t do anything stupid”
“We are not” Koki replied frustratingly. “We just thought you could use some company tonight.”
Kame felt his heart ached as he replied tiredly “I just need a proper sleep.”
“Then why are you not here?” the older guy was pleading.
Kame salty tears finally reached his capped lips “I can’t. His smell is everywhere.”

Being drunk and lonely has always been a bad combination. He perfectly knows it as he drunk dialing the number practically burned in his mind.
“Hello” the sleepy voice greeted groggily. Kame imagined the other rubbing his eyes, as he done every time he answered sudden midnight calls before.
Kame swallowed hard, trying to clear his throat and clustered mind. But nothing comes out.
After almost a minute in silence, the other tried again “Kame? Is that you?” the deep voice questioned hesitantly.
“Why did you left us?” he barked unwittingly into the receiver.
“Kame are you drunk?” concerned was adamant in the other newly awaken voice, hiding his surprise well.
“Why Jin? Why did you have to leave?” he asked again, hurling himself on the cold floor, wanting so much to feel anything than the painstaking jabbing his heart.
“Are you at home? Let me ask Ueda to…” Jin tried again.
“Answer me, you selfish bastard. Why did you have to go? Are we not good enough for you? Do you hate me that much?” his voice was shaky, mixed with all the emotions he successfully hides from everyone. He clutches the phone tightly, feeling his skin stretched under his own fingernails.
The question went unanswered as the silences filled in the gap. Then softly Jin croaked “Kame, let me call someone to go to your place.”
“Am I that easy to forget?” it was his own voice, but sound so distasteful. “Does all these years meant nothing at all?”
“Of course it does” Jin finally gave in.
“Then why did you throw everything away?” his breathing get heavier as tears streaming down his depressing face. “It was my fault isn’t it? If only I…”
“No Kame, please don’t blame yourself. It’s me” Jin cut him helplessly.
“I should stop you back then. I should beg you not to go. I should not let go of your hand…” his sentences ended with a hurtful jab as his heart clenched, listening to his own revelation.
“Please Kame” Jin‘s voice was just as depressing as Kame’s.
“It’s painful Jin” he hit his chest violently. “Time doesn’t heal anything.”

Okinawa was where it all started. It was a special place for him and Jin, the place he never thought of visiting with such sorrow tormenting inside. Everyone knows first love never really works out. But no one has told him how painful it will be when it’s lost.
He and Jin have lost that pure feeling of needing each other long ago, when both were too blind chasing the glittering world. They were caught up in the exhilarating rush, too busy to notice the distance slowly eating up. End up; it became a broken glass that can’t be fixed.
Kame was the first to notice the crack, but it was too late to patch up. However, being the perfectionist he always was, Kame refused to let go, clinging to the mere memories of the past. He knew Jin wants out, sensing the tired looking eyes bored into his from time to time. But he was too afraid and maybe selfish to let go the last thread that binds them all those years.
And now, after all those years, he returned to the very place that holds all those memories. It’s going to ends here.
The soft sand felt cold between his toes as he walks slowly towards the salty smell of ocean. He shivered slightly when his toes dipped into the cold water. The night breeze was soothing and welcoming, caressing his tear streak face.
He continues walking, trying to balance himself through the soft hits of waves, determinant to complete his mission.
Reaching the satisfied distance, his slender fingers slowly dipped into his shirt pocket and pulled out a familiar jewelry he had promise to treasure forever. Another promise he couldn’t keep. “Jin, this is goodbye” he kissed the ring ghostly, as a tear dropped onto it.
Then with all his might, he throws the ring into the endless sea, cutting the last thread away. “It’s time for me to move on. The other needs me.” He was rooted at the spot for almost 10 minutes, crying out his last tears.
As he walks back to the shore, two soft smiles were waiting for him. Ueda and Junno were waiting patiently for his return, ready to plunge forward if he did anything remotely stupid. Not far from them, another two figures were walking side by side, holding a bucket of fireworks to celebrate his new beginning.

Angst never really is my genre, but I hope I didn't suck that much with this one-shot. Do share your thoughts with me as I appreciate all the love I can get, especially at this dire moment (^_^)
