Chapter List Chapter 42. I Have No Idea What Happened Last Night
A continuous knocking at the door awoke Asuka from slumber. She rolled in her bed, only to feel her face meet the floor with a thud, her hand landing on the edge of the coffee table.
“Ugh,” she groaned as she stood up, rubbing the tip of her nose. She forgot she had come home late last night after her argument with Taecyeon. She groaned again at the thought of it. Her pounding headache from all the alcohol last night wasn’t helping either.
Reluctantly, Asuka made her way towards the door, only to slam it shut when she recognised the occupants on the other side.
“COME BACK IN AN HOUR OR TWO!” she shouted at the closed door.
“Come on, Suke!” Nichkhun’s voice replied, rather cheerfully.
“Stupid morning person,” Asuka mumbled. “Go away!”
“You and Taec have had enough fun,”
“Yeah. And have you forgotten about the trip? We have to leave like, soon.” Lexi added. “Oh and, I NEED TO PACK!!”
Asuka groaned again. Why was she surrounded by morning people? She sighed and decided to open the door. Although she could’ve really used the sleep, she needed something to keep her mind off her conversation last night.
As soon as she opened the door, her roommate zoomed straight past her without a word, Junho following right behind and she could’ve sworn she saw Lexi and Junho holding hands. Nichkhun gave her a “morning” before continuing his conversation with Ana, making himself at home, Chansung walked in complaining about breakfast to Yuki, with Junsu and Wooyoung behind him, shaking their heads and arguing in saturi again.
A smile made its way on her lips. She was relieved to see her friends and the members getting along well. It was almost as though they had known each other for years.
“Where’s Taec?” Nichkhun asked, bringing Asuka out of her thoughts.
“Umm sleeping,” I think. “He’s in the room, second door to your left,” she said before Nichkhun could even ask. She would leave Nichkhun to wake up Taecyeon.
“Second door?” Lexi commented. “What were you two doing there?”
“Nothing.”
Her roommate gave her an all too knowing look but Asuka ignored it.
“Nothing, really. It was dark and late, he was over his limit, I decided to let him sleep, end of.” Asuka replied annoyed and walked off to the dining, seating herself down at the table and holding her head up with her right arm.
From the corner of her eye, Asuka watched Lexi fold her arms. She knew that look Lexi was giving her. She wasn’t buying her story. Not one bit.
“Didn’t you need to pack or something?” Asuka said, ignoring the look.
“Oh, right,” Lexi dropped the subject and rushed towards her room, Junho still holding her hand.
Asuka let her head fall to the table, placing her cheek against it. A person came into her vision and sat himself down beside her. She looked up face a calm Wooyoung. He smiled and placed a hand on hers, while patting her hair softly. The small gesture made her smile and calm down, letting her release a breath she hadn’t known she was holding.
Nichkhun reached the study room and found Taecyeon’s laying form, his back facing him. He knew the younger wasn’t sleeping, even with the slow and steady rise of his body.
“It’s just me, Taec,”
There was no reply. Nichkhun approached him and sat on the end of the bed. “Look, I know you probably don’t wanna talk about last night, but if you need anyone--”
Taecyeon got up and left the room before he could finish. Nichkhun could only sigh and hope that whatever happened last night would be resolved before they left.
After leaving the study room and passing by Lexi and Junho, which made Taecyeon stop in confusion, he reached the kitchen. Chansung was raiding the girls’ food supply which did not surprise Taecyeon. What did get to him was the sight he saw at the dining table.
Wooyoung and Asuka had their heads together; one hand in the other resting on the table and Wooyoung’s other hand drawing circles on the girl’s back. Taecyeon knew that the two were close, but he had never seen them like this before. What also struck a chord in him was that no matter how close you were to Asuka, she still wasn’t one for holding hands and playing with one’s hair.
“Ah, ah, Taecyeon-hyung, that…ah, hurts,” a whine came from beside him. He turned to see Chansung near tears and his eyes widened, immediately letting go of the maknae’s arm. Chansung rubbed the sore spot on his forearm as he sent the elder a glare. “Seriously, hyung. Control yourself, please,” he said before walking to the living room.
“Sorry, Chansung-ah,” he shouted out to him. The maknae only lifted a hand in acknowledgement before dropping himself on the sofa. Taecyeon made a mental note to make it up to the younger male later.
Casually, Taecyeon walked passed two 89ers on the dining table, trying to push down this urge he had to hit Wooyoung, and joined the others in the living room. While doing so, he “accidentally” knocked Wooyoung on the back of his head with his elbow. The latter didn’t seem to budge or look up which only chipped away at Taecyeon’s jealousy more. Though he would deny that he was jealous of his fellow band mate.
“What’s got his panties in a bunch?” Junsu commented as Taecyeon sat down in a huff beside Nichkhun.
“No one’s panties are in any bunch, Junsu,” Taecyeon retorted harshly as he leaned his head back on the sofa, letting his eyes close.
“I think he’s still suffering from a hang-over,” Chansung added but made sure to stay on the other side of the living room in case the rapper was going to injure him again.
“It’s fine, I’m fine,”
Nichkhun looked at him in concern but chose not to say anything. He knew it was most likely to do with what Taecyeon had called him about late last night, and although most of what Taecyeon said sounded like drunk mumbo-jumbo, Nichkhun knew that Taecyeon meant every word of what he had said.
Taecyeon rubbed the temples of his head and a crease formed in the middle of his forehead. He felt as though he had forgotten something important but he just could not recall it. The only thing he was sure of, was it had to do with what happened the night before and some phone call?
Whatever it was, he hoped that it would come back to him, either that or that it wasn’t as important as he thought it was. Nichkhun kept giving him these looks of concern and it was seriously starting to creep the taller male out. Yes, they were friends and he would console in the Thai but he only showed such concern towards Wooyoung.
Not knowing how to react, Taecyeon narrowed his eyes at the male beside him and it seemed to work, sort of. Nichkhun dropped his gaze and walked over to Junsu and Chansung, joining their conversation about who hit the hardest in the group.
“Yah Udong, who do you think hits the hardest? Khun-hyung or Junsu-hyung?”
Taecyeon looked behind him at the mention of Wooyoung and found Asuka to no longer be by his side, much to his relief. Wooyoung rolled his eyes at the question and sat himself down beside Taecyeon.
“Really? They’re still on about this,” Wooyoung said to Taecyeon rather annoyed and the elder couldn’t help but laugh. All his previous worries about Wooyoung and Asuka were pushed to the back of his mind.
Walking into her room, the female dropped herself face down on her bed. She didn’t know what it was, but Asuka was certain that the issues between her and Taecyeon had yet to be resolved. Unfortunately, she couldn’t remember what happened last night and it was starting to annoy her. This was definitely not helping her headache.
All she could remember was the two of them walking into the local university bar, Taecyeon ordering a jug of something, another argument and both of them hobbling home and passing out in the living room and spare room respectively. There was also the little incident between Wooyoung and Taecyeon earlier before that she didn’t understand.
Messing up her bed sheets, she let out a sigh followed by a knock on the door. She felt the presence walk in and sit on the edge of her bed. The person placed a hand on the small of her back and began rubbing it in circles. She knew by the gesture who the presence was.
“Junho-yah,” she said and the male hummed a reply. Junho was the only one who did that to her and he always had this thing for impeccable timing when one was in need. The JunBrothers and their ESP. It scared Asuka sometimes.
“I take it you and Taecyeon-hyung argued again,” Junho said matter-of-factly. Asuka didn’t reply. “If it helps, he looks more depressed than you do,” he joked. The female reached for her pillow and threw it at the younger male.
