The lack of actual 'story'
You know, something is really bugging me about Mal/ River fics. And that is the fact that there are no actual stories. Oh don't get me wrong, there are plenty of fics, but they seem to be all existentialist ramblings or pretentious treaties on the methaphorical and moral wrongness of life.
It's bugging the gos-se out of me.
Now, I love the idea of strng, stalwart Captain in love with the crzy chick BUT there doesn't seem to be any decent full length stories out there.
I've ended up taking a detour and starting to read Rayne fics instead, because there are some fantastic stories there which have full plot and everything.
Just done reading carnival by
Aliaspiral, which is the cutest ficlet i have read in a good long while and, what makes it better- it has an actual PLOT.
I think that the Maladies and especially Mal/ Riverites need to take note of this. Plus some of those River/ Jayne fics are so damn cute, I might jump ship. STOP with the long theories about life and the verse and get back to some good old-fashioned story telling.
