Insomnia strikes again!

It's nearly 2am here and I just can't sleep. I sit here in my computer chair and look over at the bed and see Dave sleeping away. It makes me hate him how easily he always sleeps.

So, since I can't sleep, I thought I'd come make a post. I know! I hope you all don't have a heart attack or something, two so close together.

I've been spending a great deal of time with family since the kids are out of school. Amber is helping out at Bible Camp this week, so she's gone till about 1pm each day and Danny spends most of his day online, on the Wii or playing with his magnetics. However each evening after dinner we've been doing something.

Tonight Amber (the 17 year old mind you) wanted to watch Aladdin. She loves those Disney movies, so there we all sat on the sofa watching Aladdin singing along to "You ain't never had a friend like me" when I look over at them all smiling and laughing and realize, wow, this is not going to last too much longer. Amber is a senior in high school this year. So I simply smiled and sang off key with them as well. After that was over, Danny picked Spiderman III and insisted on popcorn. So I popped some popcorn (yes on the stove, none of that microwave popcorn for us!) and we settled in for Spiderman III. It was an enjoyable evening. The other night we watched the Reds (of course they lost) while we played Aggravation! I can't believe I won, they always kick my butt!!

Last night my best friend called me, she was in from Alabama and she and her husband wanted to go to dinner. So off we went to the local Mexican restaurant, they always want Mexican when the come up and they don't like my favorite Mexican restaurant. Well Danny as I've said before has Autism. One of the things he is effected by (not all with Autism but he is) that he won't try new things with food, he's very picky and has a small variety of what he will and will not eat. One thing he will eat at a Mexican place is a cheese quesadilla. Now there can't be sauce or meat or anything else in it or he won't eat it.

So the first trick is getting the waiter to understand what I'm trying to say. I know it's a Mexican restaurant, but they really need to have an interpreter or something! Well my friend and her husband order nachos and a cheese sauce for the free chips that are on the table. They bring the cheese sauce and I try to get Danny to taste them. The sauce is white and he turns his nose up, making a horrible face and all that extra unneeded stuff. The cheese was white cheese not yellow so he wouldn't try it. I dipped a chip and said Danny it's really good do you want to try it and he made this horrible disgusting noise and shook his head. Now I've always tried to teach my kids, just because you don't like something doesn't mean you have to be rude, just say no thank you.

So, I touched Danny on the shoulder and said, "Danny, what has Mom told you about just because you don't like something?" I'm telling you, quick as can be he came back at me with "Don't make vomit noises?" I was dying laughing because that is the noise that he made. It was funny! We all laughed.

I can't believe how tall he's gotten. Amber is 5'9" and he's a good inch taller than her if not more, and he'll only be 12 in September. I've really been living in the 'my goodness they grow up too fast' stage lately.

Oh, I just yawned, not going to miss that chance, I'm off to bed! I hope all that read this are doing well, ta ta for now!
