hello again my dear LJ. so i've been home almosst a week now due to an unexpected injury at work. Wednesday around noon during the time of dog check-ins i had atempted to get one of the dogs for check-in. This particular dog was a little sketchy to begin with but dummy me and trying to give every dog atleast a chance as not being checked in is usually a sure ticket to death row. The dog seemed fine at first.. i got her on a leash and walked her a ways when she suddenly put the breaks on and tried to pull back but couldn't, she flipped out and wound herself up in the leash and in desperate attempt to escape she jumped up to bite my side. In a bit of shock when i felt her teeth close around me, i swung my hand down to knock her away. As i had no intention of hurting the dog, my fist was not closed and i apparently broke the edge of my hand against her head because of it. Try explaining that to 5 different people including secretaries, nurses, insurance adjusters, doctors, drug testing lab techs (was mandatory for workmans comp lols,) and orthopedic surgeons. from the x-ray i got it looks like a large break through the bone with a smaller hairline fracture near the knuckle.

The past week has been a nightmare of pulling teeth and playing games with insurance companies not authorizing doctors for this, and doctors not giving insurance companies paperwork to make those authorizations for that. blah blah. so it was nearly a week before i got to even see a specialist and when i finally did he was a typical egotistical surgeon ass on top of being in a bad mood because of some issue with him and his manager, and on top of THAT he couldn't even view the x-rays that were given on disc. so i had to go get more x-rays but by this time the radiologist lab was already closed and being the weekend it won't be until monday until i can get them. meanwhile my hand is still left untreated. :P

Also the dog is just fine. I don't blame the dog either. It's just one of those freak accidents that happen when you're working with scared animals. When you've worked with them for as long as I have, chances are you'll eventually suffer some sort of injury from them. No matter how safe you are it's still inevitable.
