Was gonna leave this til the weekend, but thought I'd put somesort of good post in before I start on other stuff in a FO post!!
Well, all in all it was a good weekend. There's always ups and downs of any break but I'm gonna post all the good things that happened. Things have been way too depressing around here for too long.
The journey to Whitby went without a hitch, all buses were on time and managed to get a cab to the cottage. Finding the cottage once we got to the street was a different story all together. We met Steph, Kate, Jay and Steph's daughter Kathryn also trying to find the cottage when we got there. After a few mins (and one hell of a steep hill) we found it! OMG it was GORGEOUS!! (log onto www.cottages4you.co.uk and it's cottage reference IKU) 5* property and was worth every penny. Me and Lee ended up sleeping in the en-suite double as the put up bed in the single room hadn't been done (it's the room with the white bed in).
On the Friday night we headed to the Spa where the bands were on. Didn't take my camera and I so wish I had. I took a photo on my phone of one of the goths - he was the spit of Marilyn Manson. Damn, I wish I had the wires and software to load the photo onto my PC. The last band to play were Dr & The Medics (yes THE Dr & The Medics), I was soooo glad I caught them as I missed them at Butlins back in April. Me and Lee headed back to the cottage at about 12.30 totally knackered.
Saturday morning we got rudely woken up at 7.50am by the builders outside (I'm sure they follow me about you know), and gave up the ghost at got up at about 9-ish. The day was spent walking around Whitby. I love Whitby - it has to be one of the BEST seaside resorts in the UK. Our first stop when we left the cottage was at a Goth market in a hotel just around the corner. I bought myself a new bag - a suede type material and totally gorgous (cheap too at only £2.99). We then headed to the spa where a Bizaar was taking place. I wish I had the figure for most of the clothes they were selling I really do. But I made my second purchase of the day there - a black feather boa to go with my outfit for that night. Now, one thing about the boa was that it left feathers EVERYWHERE (we were still picking them up off the floor last night). We then took a few photos of the views and then headed down to the harbour.
I love walking along the harbour wall, especially the part at the end where there's like a wood peir type bit. It doesn't half blow the cobwebs away. Managed to get a few photos there too. We then deceided to walk along the harbour it's self, through the town and upto the Abbey ruins. On our way we saw a Goth Dog - yes folks, it was a golden retriever that the owner had dressed as a goth. It was soooo cool that I simply had to take a photo of it.
When we got to the foot of the walk upto the Abbey we found that the steps (all 199 of them) we closed for a refurb so it was a case of walking up the nice steep slope at the side. Luckily it was a nice day otherwise it would've been pretty dangerous. As always, the view from the top is worth getting knackered on the walk up for. The sun was quite bright too so we got some excellant photos when we were up there, think I took the best side of 25. I took a couple on my phone too, one is now a new screen saver on there. All in all, worth the £4 we paid to look around.
We then had another wander around town, had lunch (fish and chips naturally), I got myself a Chocolate Dracula's Coffin and we then headed back to the cottage to get ready for that night.
I was a little pissed off as I'd taken my leather skirt to wear but ended up having to wear the same skirt that I wore on Friday. The reason being that I've lost around 3 stone in weight since I last wore that skirt so it was dropping off me. Steph and Kate looked wicked in their outfits, and Ed got into the spirit and got some black makeup around his eyes. Lee looked pretty dapper in his leather trousers too ;)
Yesterday we headed back into Whitby for a walk. I got myself some weeping candles from a goth shop (they are black and I think they've probably got a red centre to them). Lee bought me my birthday pressie (a witch on a broomstick flashing her bum and a friendship candle type thing). The afternoon was then spent back at the cottage. Last night we went for a walk four about 1½/2 hours which was really cool - Whitby by night. Hopefully the photos I took will turn out.
So that was the weekend, took around 70 photos which I will load up the best ones from when I get them developed.
