Foie Gras

I know there's been some movements against foie gras (primarily initiated by PETA) a while ago. Just today, an article on foie gras appeared on the New York Times. To summarize, a quote from the article:
Since the time of ancient Egyptians, making foie gras has involved doing something unnatural to ducks or geese: fattening their livers by force-feeding them, typically, nowadays, for the last 12 to 21 days of their lives.
The header image is a picture of ducklings, which look innocent and cute. Throughout the article, the phrase "force-fed" is used exhaustively, and the Times makes the point clear: the process for the ducks/geese in the making of foie gras is unnatural and inhumane.

Foie gras is rather a sad delicacy. (I am, in case you were wondering, a vegetarian.)

While I'm posting links, there's an interesting article on BBC News called "New 'super-Earth' found in space." It's quite intriguing, and, although I still have doubts about other life forms out there, it's neat scientists found a relatively habitable planet quite similar to Earth.
