"Shit." Faye opened her eyes - she had already retreated to rest for the night, and realized that yet again, she had let one of her responsibilities slip her mind. She had meant to tend to it earlier, but more pressing matters had consumed her time, and priorities had shifted.
What was once a thriving and active endeavor had now lost its momentum, and was growing stale. It was always a bit melancholy when a project comes to an end, even if that end was way overdue.
Hello darlings. First, I'd like to thank you all for participating in my experiment. You've all performed wonderfully within parameters. That said, I have gathered what I require from this House and have decided to terminate my participation.

She clicked 'send' and shut off her computer - a short interlude in her evening of relaxation and meditation, but nothing disruptive. A moment was spent wondering who of her family would be interested in any future participation in her projects, but it was fleeting. She smiled to herself, and shut off the lights to her office before retreating back to her more prominent responsibilities - that to herself.
