long overdue update
Wow, it's been awhile! Seems like my days roll one into another lately.
Let's see, what's been going on....
My daughter has moved to South Carolina, and is loving it. She and the father of her other 4 children have been there about a month now, and are busy exploring the area and having a grand old time. They are near the Charleston area. Her children's father was in school last year learning about aircraft maintenance, and got hired by Boeing right after he finished.
Griffen is doing very well. He is now 15 1/2 and as tall as my husband (5'8"). He can even wear the same size jeans as my husband! He has been with us now permanently for 5 years next month. He is beginning to outgrow the migraine headaches he used to have. They are not as frequent nor are they as severe. This is what we hoped for. If he would watch his diet a little more he would do even better, but teenage boys just want to eat anything and everything!
We seem to have finally gotten his ADHD under control. He is much calmer and more in control than ever.
Another big change with Griffen is his school grades. Griffen could barely read when he came to live with us (just before 5th grade), and never cared about school, just doing enough to get by. Every year he was in danger of failing math and science (the 2 subjects that he had to pass before being promoted to the next grade). But something seemed to "click" this year. This year he has made the honor roll every marking period. So happy!!
Not everything is hunky-dorey, though. I have been diagnosed with arthritis in my left hip, and have been dealing with bursitis in the same leg. I can't sleep in my own bed at night because it is painful, and my hubby sometimes bumps my leg. So I sleep on our living room sofa at night. It's not an ideal situation but we are making it work for now, until we figure out what else we can do.
Looks like most of you are over on Facebook now. So am I. But I do check in here now and then, so don't be afraid to update!
