It seems like so few people are on LJ these days! I still post fic here more out of habit than anything else, but there's just not the same activity. That said, I do love a good fic table.
I've managed to complete my table two years counting, so I'm going to try for a third year. Hopefully you can get a few fic out of this year if you got some fun prompts to work with.
Yeah, I don't really remember why I stopped posting so much, but I just fell out of the habit and it seemed like a lot of others did at the same time. I just sort of stick to tumblr and ao3 now.
last time I signed up quite late into the challenge and got too stressed out so just never managed it, but I saw the sign ups for cards the day after it opened this time, so plenty of time to do something!
Completing tables is impressive! :D are you sticking to the usual fandoms? :)
AO3 is definitely the best place for fic these days, though I have a few fandoms I'll still hit up ff.net for. I was late coming to Tumblr, but it has since swallowed me whole.
I don't even know if I have a usual fandom anymore! I've been pretty all over the place the last few years, so I imagine my card will run the gamut of fandoms because I have the attention span of a flea these days.
What fandoms are you up to anymore? I hope with a lot of lead time, you won't feel overwhelmed by your card this year!
I really don't like ffn so I'm always happy when authors have cross posted to ao3 ha. What's your tumblr name? I just changed mine back to mellaithwen to make fandom stuff easier.
Captain America fandom has taken over everything ;) and I've still got a soft spot for Star Trek (kirk/mccoy ftw) and DC comics, but it's really mostly all about Steve x Bucky haha :D
My tumblr is a crazy mix of things, but I'm fayedartmouth on there. Don't feel obligated to follow or anything!
I have another friend who is heavily into Captain America, so I flirt around the edges of that one. I lean more toward Thor, but I do love all of the MCU quite a bit. I've dabbled a bit with Star Trek (platonic Kirk/McCoy, mostly), but mostly just upon request.
I just checked out your card, and you have some fun prompts to work with at least ;)
no obligation but totally gonna follow you though :) hehe
film wise I was really disappointed with AoU, but The Winter Soldier was the greatest thing ever, so I'm both insanely excited and insanely terrified for Civil War ha. I've only written 2ish star trek fics, but the amount of word doc's with half assed ideas is reaching atomic levels
they've definitely got the potential for buckets full of angst, that's for sure!
AoU was definitely not as good as the other films in the franchise, but I still generally enjoyed it, even if it lacked that spark that made the first one so special. And Winter Soldier is probably the best movie in the entire MCU to date, I think. I think Civil War has the potential to destroy me emotionally in every way, so I hope they get that one right.
The doc of half baked fic ideas is the sign of a tried and true fic writer. My Google Drive is full of fleeting ideas and unbeta'ed fics that I just don't know what to do with.
