Hi all.
Today, I was a Mom. I got up around 7am, when I would normally be starting my shift, and after a few minutes to get myself ready I jumped in and did the kid thing. Gage went to daycare like normal, and Chad went to work for a little bit, leaving Aidan and I to get ready, make the beds, get the laundry started--all that jazz. Then Chad came home to take Aidan and I to see Aidan's psychiatrist.
So, we've doubled Aidan's antipsychotic because the voices came back last week. The doctor is leaning towards bipolar, but she needs a battery of tests to officially diagnose him, and those are tests that she doesn't do and my insurance rarely covers. So the rest of the day was spent mostly discussing things with my insurance company, Aidan's teacher, various doctors, etc. Today I was an advocate for my kid, which is what I should be doing. It takes time. I can't believe how, "right after I get off the phone," actually translated to "not today--there's just no time." And that's without work. There's no way I could have done all of that in my lunch break.
Whew. I earned my no-money today.
Aidan is fine right now. Episodes vanish like smoke and make you feel crazy for saying there was anything wrong, but they happen and I'm not crazy, and the way I see it I have this year to get things under control before he starts getting into the realm of social disaster. By 2nd grade, the kids won't be so nice when he bursts into tears at school. Plus, I don't trust those voices.
On a much nicer note, opening the bills today I found that the car bill was actually a form letter informing us that the last payment we made on the car was the last payment on the car. Woot! The car is paid off. We now own that old clunker out-right. Plus, there was a bill from the electric company that said something along the lines of, "We've been billing wrong this year, and now we're fixing it--sorry." Our usually-$100+ electric bill was $2.98 after the adjustment. Another cool surprise.
That's right, we're rich. We can afford rent AND groceries this month.
So, that's all there is. I was spoiled rotten by being home today and getting stuff ready for work tomorrow gave me a bitter taste in my mouth, so I ate 2 brownies. Somehow, I'm still going to work tomorrow, and I don't think a 3rd brownie is going to help. After 30 I might be really sick, but I'm not making brownies just for that. What a waste.
Take care, love to all, and hope you're lives are full in a good way,
Kimberly
