Tue, 18:20: Simple law to stop greedy companies making products designed to break - Sign the petition to end planned... http://t.co/xiFfLuUzQl
Something that some European countries are doing (and I think has been suggested in the US, but not gotten anywhere) is for companies to have to set aside money for the expected disposal costs of their products. In the case of some that can't just be thrown in the trash, they might even have to take the dead/broken ones back at their stores for free.
That sort of thing makes a *big* difference in what will look profitable. And places some costs where they should be, rather than on the general public.
No, she did *not* buy it in the "employee uniform" section (there's no such thing).
she bought it in the "career" section. That's for stuff that's intended as business wear. But just because some companies would allow those shorts as "business casual" doesn't mean that JC Penney's has to.
Wed, 02:00: ejacutastic: people who think lesbians are more accepted in society than gay men are idiots lesbians are... http://t.co/OMjCvx7qXx
Yeah, in one of the Tuck stories, one of the character put it something like "If it was two girls together, they get ostracized, except for the guys who'd think it was 'hot'. But if it was two guys, it's be a death sentence. They'd at least get the shit beat out of them, if not worse."
But the guys thinking it's "hot" readily shifts to the old "you haven't met the right guy yet". Which often shifts to "if we fuck her, she'll give up this lesbian nonsense".
So yeah, lesbians have it "easier".
To the extent that getting raped is "easier" than getting beaten to death.

And *that*, in a nutshell, is why I'm genderqueer. So I won't get looked at funny if I act in "not approved for men" ways.
The fact that I like the clothes doesn't hurt either.
Folks who are TG/GQ/bi-gendered for "social" reasons are an important but oft-overlooked part of the community.
