There's another option you've overlooked. Sign up for the prepaid plan with one of my old phones (a pain to text on, but doable) Live with that for a month or two *then* get the Cosmos.

And for the curtains bit, what you want are called "blackout curtains". Originally intended to keep lights inside from being seen outside, they work just fine the other way.

Only problem is how to mount them. That'll probably require some negotiation with REACH.

ETA: there's a policy about not putting things up in windows, but I think that's more about signs and things. Maybe you can get permission to cover the windows with black construction paper or something.

Why is that?

Cool. I'll think on it.

Why would it be an issue with REACH? It's just curtains. They've already said we can have curtains.

Covering the *window panes* with paper or something could be an issue because rules they made a few years back (I suspect they were prompted by folks putting "too weird" shit in their windows")

Curtains will require installing stuff on the walls (by their handyman) to *hold up* the curtains.

That reminds me. When I get the file storage box/boxes, if you'd give me a hand with sorting and filing papers, you can look thru all the stuff from REACH over the last few years. (I actually have stuff going back to when I moved in, but much of it ain't easily accessible.)
