Dangers of web surfing

Last night I was looking for a certain kind of program online. Downloaded one, and soon after opening it, found that all my browsers were blocked, where one was told you have to fill out a bunch of personal data and do a bunch of surveys. I thought it was a virus, a Trojan horse. Brought the laptop over to Brooke to look at. After lots of searching about, found it was not a virus after all. The (now deleted) program had changed the hosts file so that most major websites redirected to their website. The solution was to simply erase all the info in the host file and hit save. Sadly, Brooke forgot to copy down the address it was redirecting to, to report them. But let this be a warning to you: BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU DOWNLOAD.
