So, anyone who has ever since my car knows that it blends in about as well as a purple horse. Everywhere I go, I either get comments about the bummer sticker or the license plate. Right now, I've been still driving around with my Belgian license plate on. Now, I figured that people were just idiots, and that's why I've been sliding by. But, apparently not.
Now, the law for military personnal returning from an overseas assignment is that you can drive your vechile with the foreign plates, but you have to register the car within 30 days of receiving it. Well, today marks the 104th day since I've had the car, and every day I have to pass through a couple of police checkpoints to get to work.
Well, coming back from lunch, the guy that went through the checkpoint behind me followed me to the workplace. Apparently, the cops were joking around about me after I left and said, "I wonder how long that clown is going to drive around with those plates." At least, that's what the guy told me. Luckily, I'm getting the car registered on Thursday when I go back to Michigan, so I'm not worried about it. But, I'll make sure I carry all of the paperwork to prove it when I go home tonight.
But, moral of the story, I apparently wasn't as sneaky as I thought. Oh well, at least I leave an impression everywhere I go. :P
