My beautiful Alexander is looking very thin these days, and is not eating well (even when it is chicken which he adores), but has a swollen tummy. The vet has warned me I need to prepare for the worst. He is going for an ultrasound tomorrow. He is 18 and a half so if it is the worst he has had a good long life. But I really want it to be something the vet can treat and not a tumour. Here he is lying on the landing just outside my study.
Update - 25/02/2014 - The vet has confirmed Alexander has a tumour on his liver, so there is no treatment. The vet was very impressed with how loving he was today, purring happily for all the vet nurses and rubbing his head sweetly against anyone who would pick him up. He is not in pain and still clearly has some quality of life so I have brought him home for cuddles and special gushy treats for what time he has left. It won't be long....
