I am on holiday! Woooo!
I've not had a holiday for a YEAR, so that I can have this month off. I am enjoying it!
I have almost certainly not yet put in enough effort into preparing for the event. I'm certainly beginning to feel a little unprepared. I'm 3/4s of the way through writing the briefs for the first big group of NPCs...
Still got lots to make, lots to arrange, lots to sort out. I also have this big worry about how many monsters we're actually going to get: we've not got enough booked, and yet we have a lot of people who say they'll turn up. 'When' is also a bit of a guess.
Not knowing who your monsters will be is a bit of a challenge, in that I don't have a nice, simple method of contacting them to say 'please bring this kit if you can'.
Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.
The more stressed I am in the lead up, the more likely it is that I will reach zen at the event. The moment where I think 'it's ok now, there's nothing more you can do. It's all happening around you, and you can't control it'. The moment where I think 'you know what I can still do, what I still have control over? Respawning more waves of monsters'.
Zen kills people.
But I have about 12 days left before we'll be off to site, I'm not the only one responsible here, and I'm really looking forward to it.
There are going to be MONSTERS, and SCARY UNDEAD, and UNEXPECTED DEVELOPMENTS, old enemies, new enemies, a BOAT, WEIRD SHIT THAT WILL MAKE THE PLAYERS GO 'AWESOME!', weird shit that will make the players think we've gone MAD, PILES of CRAP, SKULLS, PILES OF SKULLS, a GIANT MONSTER every so often but most especially AT THE END, and the most important one: RUNNING AROUND A WOOD DRESSED SILLY HITTING YOUR MATES WITH PRETEND SWORDS.
Woo larp.
