recently, i have developed a strong love for flat, covered, "ballerina" styled shoes and junked all my heeled, opened-toe sandals. See, now there's lot more walking along suburban concrete pathways than the swanky sheltered walkways of town. So flat shoes make more sense than high heeels now, especially when the weather gets rainy (like this morning). While, I am a casual dresser for work, I do restrain from wearing flat opened-toe sandals (aka slippers) to work. So as a compromise, I wear flat covered shoes now. It helps that there are more and more cute, smart, exotic designs for such shoes compared to opened-toe sandals, which after a while, look almost similar and the only ways to differentiate them are through height and colour only.
In a short span of 2-3 months, I have acquired almost 8 pairs of flat covered shoes. They are sooo cheap! I bought them prices starting from $20 per pair. I only paid $50+ for 1 pair only (from URS). The other pairs I bought were from Topshop, small shops at Far East, Plaza Sg, Orchard Cineleisure etc. I must say the nicest ones I got are the really cheap ones from no-brand small shops. There's one pair that's white with fake shiny diamantes (??) at the side. A grey/silvery pair with ribbon at the side too (this is really ballerina type- a bit too ku niang for me). A soft black with vintage looking flower-like-design-with-a-buckle-in-the-middle (v adams family). A yellow and white polka dot with big bow in front, canvas. A shiny silver with scaley like texture (that kinda reminds me of mermaids). A purplish hard leatherish with old crumbled lace ribbon in front..in a weird way, these shoes kinda cheer me up during the day when I am working. I looked at them and I felt beetter
Thx Shin for the tip to apply moisturiser on the shoes to prevent blisters! My feet blisters easily, esp wearing cheap shoes. Now I doused my feet and the shoes with lotsa mositurisers and I don't blister at all! Guess what, I realised, my feet actually becomes softer! I tthink it's like wrapping the feet with mosituriser throughout the day- almost like giving feet a spa treatment!! So now, I can save money on pedicures and foot spa!! hahaha.. with covered shoes, I dont even need to religiously paint my toe nails anymore!!
