Well THAT Was Fun

Good evening, my dear watchers! (I suppose I could call you that--Makes sense considering this blog is entirely designed for those who watch for updates). Anyway, I just wanted to give a quick update on all that's been going on at the center. My Second day on the job, I got to meet one of the most influential wolf biologists in the business: David Mech!! I was incredible--I actually got to present for him and board members (co-owners of the center) and, while it was daunting, he treated me like any other person and knows my name! *flips out momentarily*

Getting back to reality, I had my first round of teaching today. It was certainly something, I'll say that. Starting bright and early in the morning, I co-taught with the other brand new intern here for a bunch of people and it went...fairly well, I'd say. But then came the task of teaching ON MY OWN....Not quite as fun. The minutes ticked by. I went about my normal chores, became obsessed with projects, and studied up. The time was near. As the time approached, I saw a small group of four near the observation area of the center (where you can watch the wolves) and it was time for me to head into action. Surprisingly, it came naturally....almost instinctively. I really felt like I was happy to be here, that they could ask as many questions as they wanted and, not only was it my JOB to tell them what they wanted to know about wolves, I really truly enjoyed it! I'm not nearly as freightened as I was before, but tomorrow me and the other intern have the whole place to ourselves to handle almost everything--Task upon task of even harder things to deal with! (and it's not stopping any time soon!)

One reason this entry is so late is because I just got back from something called "Wolf Communication". We actually got to go out this evening and go wolf howling (in the cold and rain and dark XD; )! Drove for a long time, waited, ventured out into the unknown and howled into the wilderness in hopes of a reply. Virtually nothing every single place we stopped. But who should appear 5 minutes from town but a random wolf just crossing the road!! How do you like that? Drive 20 miles out to call to them and they're just scouting out the town for good real estate :P Oh well--I suppose we'll eventually get to howl again and see who calls back.

That's about it for me. Have to rest up for work tomorrow.

FIRST DAY OFF SUNDAY--Yay :~P
