Good afternoon, my lovely readers!
Faux here with another update. Well I must say that I've had a very interesting, very lovely past few days here in WA. Not only did I get to go pottery painting and sight-seeing around a beautiful harbor, I spent the evening with friends having some good-ol-southern cooking, only to return home to some fun and games with the family here at my house. Then on Sunday, I visited two churches (of COMPLETELY different caliber) and had my eyes opened to the spirited in very different ways.
It's amazing how much environment, time, and generations can alter ways of worship--particularly when it's to the same God. The first one I went to was a very well-to-do large church with a variety of ethnicity and stages of life in attendance. They were proper, sang very little, and the message was quite to the point with a smidge of anecdotes here and there. The second church, however, was an african american church. And granted I didn't go for the morning service, but the praise and worship service alone was one for the books! They certainly feel the spirited in different ways than what I'm use to. Again it astounds me just how much the environment and norms can play into how one lives and acts among fellow believers.
I've also had fun playing the babysitter this weekend with the neighborhood kids (of which there is quite a throng!) Not only did I get a chance to play with the two kids that live in the house with me, I've played tag, hide and seek, and rock paper sissors more than I ever thought I would again XD; But it's been fun, and a nice way to relax/waste time while waiting for work to start. I still have ONE more day of official nothing before I head into work. I wish I could go in early, but I'm not sure that's going to happen.
Otherwise, today has been much of the same. Walking in the morning, strolling down town to visit the Museum of Art (which had a WONDERFUL piece on Norman Rockwell) and waiting in line for hours, having some nice bubble tea on the glass bridge (which had some BEAUTIFUL work as well--Can't wait to actually visit the museum!), and browsing around various shops before visiting "hello, cupcakes" to bring home the "cupcakes"(bacon not included) to everyone back here at home. I had a carrot one myself :P I'd say that was a successful day, wouldn't you?
Well, I believe the sunshine and weeds are calling my name outside, so I bid you all farewell for now! I'll send you and update after my first day of work (which I'm sure will be a doosey!)
