Now, perhaps someone will take the liberty of explaining exactly what it is that draws military men to me...

That looks like an odd movie. One, the soldier seems mildly retarded. Two, I'm not sure I have my terminology right, but isn't that a transvestite, not transgender. From the trailer "she" complains that the soldier is straight, which makes me think that "she" still has original parts. So, basically I'm confused. :P

Transvestites are (usually) straight men who dress up in women's clothing to get their kicks.

Transsexuals are girls who weren't born that way, whether they've had the surgery or not.

The story of Calpernia & Barry was before she got her surgery, so yeah, she still had outdoor plumbing. After all, is it what's inside or outside that counts? Though it does bring to mind that K's Choice song "Something's Wrong". (One of my exes nearly spewed his drink when he heard that.)

Thanks for clearing things up a little for me. I confess I don't really understand transsexualism very well, probably because it isn't something I struggle with or that anyone close to me struggles with. What I still don't understand in the case of Calpernia and Barry, is that Calpernia complains about Barry being straight. If Calpernia is really a woman inside, then why should she mind? Does that mean that all T girls can only go for gay males? I don't really understand that. I thought the idea was that although genetically you were born male, that you identify as female and have had the surgery to confirm this, which, consequently, should mean that as a woman you can pursue a heterosexual relationship. I'm sorry I'm being such a pain, I'm just trying to understand. I know it's complicated and stuff, but I like you, so I wanna know you better and actually understand a little bit about you (and the movie)

I adore K's Choice. I think I just said, "Dude", when I heard that song. My husband laughed at me. ;)
