Top Ten Episodes of Doctor Who (According to Me) #6-10

Dec 06, 2011 11:40

My top five episodes were really easy to choose, but numbers 6-10 were a LOT harder, so here's a list of some episodes that almost made the final cut.

Honorable mentions: School Reunion. I REALLY enjoy this episode and I cannot understand people who use this episode to hate on Rose. She was not the only one acting petty and immature in this ( Read more... )

I actually legit love the plot of Doomsday. Like, I would watch it a hundred times over if it weren't for ALL THE SADNESS. XD

And I AM SHOCKED AND APPALLED to see s6 making it anywhere on the list, but The Girl Who Waited was damn good, it's gotta be said. Also Rory and Amy calling out Eleven for being a douche ranks pretty high for me.

Idk. To me Doomsday is pretty generic "Daleks try to take over and/or destroy the world again. Also, Cybermen!". I find the whole ghost/footprint doesn't look like a shoe thing to be somewhat interesting as well as Torchwood's involvement in the whole debacle. But the plot still isn't AMAZING. It's just good enough to support and not take away from the brilliant character stuff that is happening in the episode. So it does its job, I guess.

TGWW is SO GOOD THOUGH. I wish I could take it away from the horror that is the rest of series 6. I am pretty sure that half the reason I love it is because Amy and Rory call Eleven out for being an ass. But like, it's a clever and pretty original plot, and the character stuff is on-point! I love it! (lol It's also the only Moffat Who episode that made it anywhere on my Top Ten list).

Lol I am a sucker for Daleks, tbh. I love Daleks taking over the world, and parallel universe shenanigans, and the whole Ghosts and Torchwood thing. But mostly Daleks.

I think the only place where TGWW is lacking is that IT'S SO ALONE. All the character stuff is brill but THERE IS VERY LITTLE FOLLOW THROUGH. I mean, that's not the fault of the episode itself, which is pretty flawless, but it colours my perception of it and means every time I say "fantastic episode" I also have to add "BUT...".

Tbh though, it's my favourite Amy moment hands down.

The lack of follow through is sad. I mean, it makes sense because young!Amy obviously wouldn't remember anything older!Amy had been though. But I wish we had seen her be angry with the Doctor's actions later and I wish that this had contributed to HER choosing to leave at the end of The God Complex. But we do a bit a bit of follow through from Rory in TGC when he refers to his time with the Doctor in the past tense.

I feel like part of TGWW was also Rory really, really losing his shit with the Doctor, and then TGC was Amy losing her faith, so it would have been super awesome for them to have decided together that THEY ARE FED UP OF THIS BS. Instead... nothing.
