Good afternoon, kind sirs and madams.

[The voice that's filtering over the feed...it sounds remarkably like one gentleman archaeologist, if but a tad more hoarse.]

I do beg your pardon if I have interrupted something, but I wish to extend a mere…request, for any information regarding this place I have been transported to.

[A pause.]

Dimitri Allen. And here I thought I'd never see you again.

[--!!] Cl--

[AND THEN SUDDENLY THERE'S VIDEO. Here, have a shocked Dimitri whose expression I don't have an icon for atm, sadfaace.]

Clive--?!

[...okay, calm. He...gives the camera a rather bemused look, somewhat dubious, even.]

...I never would have guessed that you would be stuck here, as well. [A pause.]

I do hope that you are more educated on this situation than I am.

[ so very amused by your shock, but when the video shows, he's only giving a slight smile. ]

That makes two of us, I suppose. But it's true-- I've been here for nearly two months.

Which means that I do have some information about this world. But before I go into that, I have a few questions of my own.

Two mont -- but, Clive, you've been present in London for much longer than that. [He should know, he's working with the guy!

...well, from what he's gathered, this isn't exactly a situation that can be rationalized by common sense. Or Deep Thinking. So, with a sigh, he descends into a contemplative look, troubled.] What do you mean by that, Clive?

I confess that for all the time I've been here, I still don't know how this world works. But I have a suspicion that it can manipulate time and space in such a way that it pulls people from different periods of existence. Have you met the real Professor Layton yet? If you have, you might notice that he's missing certain... memories. To put it simply, he's from a time before our little charade.

In the same way, I suspect that my time away from London has been manipulated to make it seem as though I haven't been gone at all-- though that's really only speculation. Johto isn't very forthcoming with information.

As for my questions for you... I'd like to know, what's the last thing you remember before you arrived here?

As the Professor failed to recognize me immediately, I must say that your explanation would make perfect sense. However... [He grits his teeth, just a bit, looking frustrated.] A world that can bend the forces of time to it's will, while I've been struggling to do the same for ten years...perhaps it is a blessing to have been transported here. Think of how much we could learn, Clive! [Oh god, here we go. There's a bit of a spark in his eyes, now, the prospect of harnessing this world's power bringing his ambition to a boil.]

...however, further research will have to wait, I'm afraid; it would seem that convincing those here of my act is...rather troublesome. Have you met with success on your end, Clive?

And to answer your question...I was escorting the good prime minister to our factory across the Thames when I suddenly found myself amid a group of...rather unpleasent people, calling themselves 'Rockets.'

...I can assume that you ask me this to see if we ourselves come from the same time, correct?

It does seem like a development far more advanced than anything we've accomplished. I suppose the tricky part would be getting to the heart of this world's secrets-- I have no doubt that this will also pave a path back to London.

... Is that so? I myself am travelling with the professor and everyone else under the guise of 'Luke'. The only two who know my true identity are Flora and Claire, though I doubt they plan to come forward with this knowledge anytime soon.

[ clive smiles inwardly at dimitri's timeline; of course, he never suspected that dimitri might be from a time in which he knew of clive's manipulation, but it was reassuring all the same. meaning that it would be much easier to sway the scientist into his hand. ]

Precisely. There are too many time discrepancies in this world. It's best to remain cautious. [ keeps mum that he also arrived in rocket headquarters for now. ]

I will assume you've been making some headway in that aspect during your stay here, then? I will have to work towards finding a suitable area to form a base of operations -- a rather crude one, I suppose, but I would rather that than be left without any place to conduct my research.

Claire... [He pauses, glancing down. He supposed it was a good thing that she was here, but...he wanted to be the one to save her, dammit!] I see. It would appear that Hershel has made quite the reputation for himself so far -- I have had little success convincing a choice few of the brighter residents of my disguise, as well as the professor himself.

From what I have seen, it would appear that only the Reinhold girl and Claire come from a period of time where they are aware of our identities, or of our research in London. This is beneficial, of course...however, this brings with it some complications, as well.

[Dimitri's thinking face is go. So many things to consider, to hide, to step around carefully...this would take some careful orchestrating if ( ... )

But of course. Research is one of my specialties, after all-- even in a place like this, I've managed to draw a few conclusions. I'm afraid I won't be at liberty to discuss them until we meet face to face, however.

[ claire, claire-- it's always about claire. clive's face is completely blank as he watches dimitri's inner struggle with a scathing passiveness. ] Yes, he's well-liked among the people here. Not surprising, of course. If your charade falls through, our only option may be for me to continue travelling within the group and correspond with you secretly.

... Flora shouldn't be a problem. Claire, on the other hand... [ a small, derisive chuckle. ] She's already threatened to reveal my identity, and there seems no swaying her. For now, I can only keep an eye on her movements.

[ he pauses. ] And what are your plans, Dimitri?

...I suppose that is wise. In the meantime, I will work towards some conclusions on my end, as well.

[It's always been about Claire, even during the times that it really wasn't. Dimitri's expression is more contemplative than anything else, though -- now that he knows Claire is safe, for the time being, he can focus on...other things. Such as--] My only concern is that, were my act to fail, yours would certainly be brought into doubt, as well. [He gives Clive a worried, but shrewd, look. As much as he trusted Clive, you never knew...thankfully, they were in this together.]

...if she chooses to expose us, there is little we can do. [A sigh.] I'm sure that if we choose our moves carefully, however, there will be little need for her to do so. Claire is not a woman to act if she cannot see any gain from it. [...which meant that he couldn't risk much interaction with her, or with anyone travelling with her. Dimitri is not amused.]

My plans... [He takes a moment to think, eyes momentarily closing as he working his head around all of this ( ... )
