I am a slow person

I told my Mom that I would update my journal soon after she left. That was a terrible lie. (I'm sorry that you raised a liar. I'm so ashamed.)

Regardless, I have to say it was wonderful having her up here. As anyone who knows me well could attest to, I am very close to my Mom and miss her quite a bit. It will be wonderful next year when we live a good deal closer to her. As for her visit, it was fantastic. We showed her the Public Garden and the Gamble Mansion and many other little things in our neighborhood and beyond. More importantly, we introduced her to the apparent magic of the strawberry shortcake sundae at J.P. Licks. She had two during her stay. It was very cute. The trip culminated in the July 4th fireworks display that was somehow better than that of 2005. We stood behind our building and watched the sky light up. It seemed as though you could reach out and touch each tiny burst of light. It was beautiful. Despite our plans to stop at Paper Source and my office on Wednesday, I ended up staying at our apartment and talking to my Mom for a couple hours. It was very nice. As often as we get to speak on the phone, it's just different to sit together and actually talk. It's nice to have moments when you're not just "catching up" during a weekly phone call.

Thanks, Mom. Your presence always reminds me to be proud of what I'm doing and to move forward in life knowing that I can do anything. I might be biased, but I think you've done a damn fine job with me. :)
