halloween: american apparel style

Oct 17, 2007 17:13

For those of you not on the American Apparel email list, I will share the hipster ironic hilarity that is their Halloween recommendations page. This is where they suggest costumes using American Apparel clothing.

What is so hilarious about this, you ask?

I find it funny that American Apparel (whose clothes all have a certain "look") suggests that you use its clothing to make Halloween costumes, since the touches that really make the costumes work are mostly accessories that don't come from American Apparel.

Examples:

"60s Pop Icon" (aka Edie Sedgwick)

"80s Pop Star" (aka Michael Jackson)

"70s Roller Skater" (aka Roller Girl from Boogie Nights)

"Broadway Cabaret Dancer" (aka Sally Bowles from Cabaret)

Please note that in all cases, the accessories and makeup are really what make the outfits work.
