What is the exposure time on a picture of a molecule? Sure this may be easy on a stable substance like a nano tube as above but on less stable things I would think that Brownian Motion would cause issues.
Anyway this is what science is about. It makes testable predictions. We have been abstractly visualizing the structure of molecules for a hundred years now. Now we can take detailed pictures that confirm that those visualizations were correct. We "knew" they were correct because the last 100 years of science would have failed if they weren't. But now we can see it in detail.
So that I don't sound too bitter I will leave out all references to pseudo science here. Well save for that last line.
