I'll tell you how I like my characters to look,act etc. Because I know you really want to hear me opinion,lol.(a joke, i'm not that conceited)
Jean Valjean-He needs to look like he could actually lift a cart and has done 19 years of prison work. No skinny arms!!!! Or legs, or anything for that matter. Act? I really want to see a change from before the bishop and after. Some kind of regret or sadness or a lot of anger and self pity in 'What Have I Done'. Tenor-ness is nesscary. Favorite:Colm and Randal Keith. My boys.
Javert- In contrast to Valjean, I want Javert to be skinny and tall and look kind of wussy but still very menacing. I think there should be a high note in Stars that way it might make Javert seem slightly more human. I love the praying in 'One Day More' and how he crosses himself in 'Stars' Javert's human too-just very...uh...thourough...i guess....Favorite:Phillip Quast,Roger Allum
Fantine- I love Fantine being a red head. I dont know why, but I do. I judge Fantine's really harshly because everyone screws up 'I Dreamed a Dream' and 'Come to Me' SHE'S DYING. She doesn't have it in her to belt madly,got it? The only good I Dreamed a Dream's I've hears are Ruthie and Ms.LuPone. Sorry everyone esle. But everyone can act her part very well.Favorite:Ruthie.
Cosette-Both big and little. I think little Cosette is adorable. The big bruise under her eye and her big broom she carries. She's super cute. The difficult thing with older Cosette is to get the audience to like her with so little stage time. So, take advantage of "In My Life" and "Everyday". As long as you don't sound like Tracey Shane, I LOVE you! Favorite:Judy Kuhn and the chick on the OLCR.
Marius-I like Marius to have dark hair. In build, Michael Ball is perfect. Marius has the same problem as Cosette. Since everyone is falling for Eponine, it's not suprising people don't like him that much. I never get much personality from Marius. Maybe it's because when we come him he meets Cosette and is doped up on love...? That's my only explanation. Again, Michael Ball is the perfect Marius. Favorite:Michael Ball and Hugh Panaro.
Enjolras-Uhh...Michael Maguire is Enjy. Cause he's sexy. And he sounds pretty. As Victor Hugo put it, Enjolras needs to be 'angelically beautiful'. The End. Favorite:Victor Wallace,Michael Maguire,Gary Mauer
Eponine-Everybody falls for Ponine. She's got spunk and the pretty ballad in the show. Everyone can sympathize with her- you love someone and they're too stupid to notice or don't care. But she is a little....umm....I honestly can't think of the word but all she cares about is Marius. That's all. I think that's because she really wants to get out of the slums and Marius is her only connection to the good world.Favorite:Frances,Kaho Shimada and Lea Salonga. No one can go wrong with 'Ponine!
The Thenardiers-My dad hates them. He thinks they're stupid and could only be needed for 'Master of the House' and 'The Bargain'. I disagree. They make me laugh in this very sad show. I love the Thenardier on the symphonic cast recording. He sounds half crocked and.....I like it! Mdm. Thenardier? Jenny Galloway or Jennifer Butt. They're Great. Favorites:Like I said Jenny and Jennifer for Thenardier Alun Armstrong and Norman Large.
