Les Mis- The Play A Review with Bad Spelling

Nov 05, 2006 09:13

I was decieved by a title. The show was a play, not the musical. So, with that....
  • Victor Hugo- Like I said, it was a play, so they had a guy meant to be Victor come out and explain the time changes and such. He was good. He left the paper that said what's on Valjean's grave out on the stage. Rachel and I ran up and touched it. It actually had words on it!!!!! And we touched there nice carboard sewer so I had Marius and JVJ germs on me!!!<3<3<3
  • Jean Valjean-He was good. I want to marry him!!! They left in the part where he gives money to Thenardier cause Thenardier saying his name is Jondrette and all that. So, the Thenardier's explain that they know who he is and about Cosette being with him. The paternel instinct kicks in annnnnddddddd......

VJ: If you scream, Mdm. Thenardier, I will snap your husband's spine in half.

Mdm.T:You couldn't.

*VJ grabs Thenardier's  throat and pins him down on the floor super quickly. This monolouge isn't right, it's what I remember combined with a summary of the speech.*

VJ: YOU WON'T TOUCH HER! FOR MYSELF, I CARE NOTHING! BUT YOU WILL NOT HARM MY ANGEL, MY COSETTE!

There's no describing what this kid did. It was amzing acting. It also showed what Hugo said: No man can completely divorce himself from his past. The prisoner JVJ came out from Cosette's loving father in this scene. LOVED IT.
  • Javert-I'm in love with him. Marry me, Inspecter. He's a great actor, this kid. He looked at me in his monolouge, I was scared. I'm like "Okay, I won't crack on your hat any more. I promise sweetie." His suicide was great. He was really crying, I believed him when he said he was doubtful. His leap off the bridge was great. OH! When he's looking for Valjean at the infirmery, he lifts up the sheet over Fantine's body! And it was awesome cause I was like "Javert, he could be under the sheet! I know he's not, but check!" I will marry him. <3<3<3
  • Fantine- This girl could play Johanna. She was very sweet and innocent when she went to the Thenardier's. And then she kept coughing. And everyone in the audience apparently had the same coughing disesase as Fantine. She was totally sweet with Cosette. She conveyed more personality than the characters with more stage time.
  • Thenardier(s)- He was good. Seriously. He went to the barricades and Azelma (yes, Azelma was in it!) and Eponine's  and Gavrouche's bodies were there. He started crying! SERIOUSLY. I'm like "whoa, you dont even remember 'Ponine's name! You're crying...?" It was a great touch that made me think.
    • Mdm. Thenardier- Good, not as good as her hubby. She wasn't average, but wasn't the best thing in the show either.
    • Azelma- GREAT. She kind of made me wish she was in the musical...
    • Eponine- OMG,she and Marius had the best chemistry EVER. EV-ER. I believed that she was poor and that she was so in love with Marius. UN-BE-LIEVE-ABLE.
  • Little Cosette-She was so cute. She said "Mesher" instead of Messiuer. If anyone else had said it, I would've hated them. With her, extremely CUTE. TOO CUTE, I want to adopt her.
  • Big Cosette- Again, she obviously had the problem of not enough stage time. Her chemistry with Marius couldn't even compare to Eponine and Marius'. Sorry. She had a Daddy/Kid fight scene with JVJ, and here's how it went:

VJ: No. You're mine. Not bad ponytail guys'! I'm not giving up everything that's made me happy. No.

Cosette:PLEASE,daddy! You can save him!!

VJ: *pause* For you, I will.

*Cosette snivells and walks off stage*

Me: WTF???? HE'S  GONNA SAVE YOUR FRICKING LIL BOYFRIEND. AND NO THANK YOU????? YOU STUPID LIL...erg!!!!

  • Marius-Good. A little bit above average, not by much though. His wig SUCKED. It was a clip on pony tail and sucked. Sorry, it did.
  • Curtain Call- Rachel and I gave standing ovations. Then everyone else stoop up. They played the DYHTPS that's in Finale and they did the steppy thing (two steps forward, one step back right?). I whooed and jumped up and down and clapped and cried and was in love with it. I would go see it again, but there's no chance of that. It was amazing. If you can you have to have to HAVE TO go see it.
