Nightmares
Timeframe: Around the time of Invincible

Summary: Series of drabbles, posting five at a time.

Alderaan
In her nightmares, she was on the Death Star. The scenery was not a new one for frightening dreams, but there was a new variation to the theme. Instead of Vader and Tarkin standing beside her, it was her son with little emotion in his glowing, yellow eyes. He signaled to the weapons officer. In horror, she relieved for the millionth time the destruction of her home and the life within it.
She awoke with a start, wiping the sweat from her brow. Turning, she was happy to see that at least one of them could sleep through the night.
Yavin IV
Jaina was thirteen and standing in a clearing in the shadows of the giant Massassi Temple. The ever-awake portion of her brain told her she was reliving the past through a dream, but the rest of her mind seemed content to relearn some of her first lightsaber lessons.
After going through the motions of several strikes, she was paired to duel Jacen, and that was when it stopped being a memory.
Without provocation, Jaina unleashed a series of slashes until her brother was no more. Her dreaming mind cried in terror, while her awake conscious wished that was the memory.
Bespin
In his nightmares, he was back in the carbon-freezing chamber in Cloud City. The surroundings were common, but the room’s occupants had changed. The stormtroopers had been replaced by the Galactic Alliance Guard, and instead of his father-in-law handing out orders it was his son. The only improvement to the dream was that Leia, Chewie and Threepio weren’t watching. He was alone to stand up to his son and he was fine with that if it meant sparing Leia.
With defiance the elder Solo stared down the younger, but it was of no use. Caedus encased his father in carbonite.
Hapes
The Queen Mother threw back the silk sheets and climbed out of her large bed. She did not need to sleep in order to experience nightmares.
Moving to the large window, she looked out at the view without seeing what was actually behind the transparisteel. She never dreamed of having a perfect, romantically idyllic life with Jacen, but she by no means imagined this alternative either.
When she was pregnant with Allana, Tenel Ka pictured Jacen as a loving and doting father. And while those adjectives could still apply technically, she in no way thought it would become this extreme.
Dagobah
His nightmares took place in familiar swamps. Some nights he imagined Yoda and Obi-Wan showing their disappointment in him for letting there be another Sith Lord in the family line. At first, he thought there was nothing worse than being called a failure by your masters, but he was wrong.
One night he found himself once more being drawn to the cave. He entered but it was no longer the place he battled himself in Vader’s suit, but a rockier environment. There was still a man with a black cape, but he didn’t fight Luke.
Skywalker watched Caedus kill Mara.
