I also agree that going along silently with, or peripherally supporting, BMD is just as bad, if not worse, as officially supporting it. Unfortunately more people seem to think two guys kissing is way more destructive than missiles in space that "defend" us.
I am of the opinion, and have always been of the opinion since I was old enough to be interested in politics (last week), that BMD is a first strike weapon. I don't think it's actually intended to stop missiles already in the air, I think it's primary use will be to destroy a country's offensive and defensive capabilities prior to a US invasion.
Add to this the fact that the US Air Force has been actively pursuing the development of antimatter bombs for at least a decade (google 'antimatter weapons'). Weapons that have the equivalent destructive force of a 'Nukler' bomb but small enough to fit in your hand, or in the cargo section of a small satellite, and you don't have to be a political or military analyst to see the connections.
Officially saying no to the BMD plan is just the beginning, we have a lot of work still to do, but at least it is a beginning.
