Liar Game, Korean version - First impression/Thoughts

So I’ve decided to watch the Korean version of Liar Game. I had mixed feelings before watching this show. First, Liar Game is still (and probably will always be) my all time favorite J-drama. The Japanese version was THE bomb. I loved every character, every round, every MWAHAHAHA evil laugh, everything. So I’m watching the Korean version without much expectation because I know for a fact that it can never be as good as the Jversion. Yes, I am biased. Hahaha.

Initially, the primary reason why I decided to watch the Kversion is because I want to see the two leads /officially/ end up together. *cough* we all know Koreans have a knack for sticking romance into every show hahaha #nohate *cough* plus I’m curious to see how it’s going to differ from the original version.  The Jversion had very minimal romance (if none at all) BUT IT WORKED. Toda Erika and Matsuda shipper here! They will always be my ultimate OTP (sorry ohmiya X)). No, I do not believe the rumor that they used to be on bad terms thus Toda wasn’t on the reborn season blablabla. Duh, they worked together again after(Matsuda’s drama about the sea doctor)! Anyw, since the drama is psychological and not romance, I am vvvvvvvv curious how the romance thing in the Kdrama would play out. I haven’t read any spoilers but I’m pretty sure it’s going to happen *wink wink*

So far, I just watched 2 episodes and it’s not so bad IF you don’t compare it to the original one. I mean, they made the liar game A GAME SHOW ON TELEVISION. Ummm……… WHAT. WHY. HOW. The whole point of the game is supposed to be to show how evil people can be, and how could they show their truly evil side if they’re on tv? No one wants the world to know how evil they really are, right? Because sometimes pride>money. Another thing I noticed is that the Kdrama can be a bit dragging. The Jdrama was more direct to the point while the Kdrama had lots of character-to-character talk that isn’t really necessary and can be omitted. Plus female lead is not as purehearted as our Nao though more realistic in that sense. All those aside, I still get all giddy giddy whenever a familiar scene shows up. Like that sun-behind-male-lead-while-looking-at-female-lead-effect after he just got out of prison ahhhhh!!! Also that alley where he told her to wait for him is soooooooo similar to the one in the original! *squeals like a typical fangirl*

Overall, it’s better than what I expected (which isn’t much, really) so I’m going to keep watching to see how things pan out. I’m just going to watch it as it is and try not to compare it to the original version as much as possible for maximum enjoyment lol. I’m not a big fan of Kdramas, but this one might be something I might actually watch ‘til the end.

P.S. Lee Sang-Yoon, the main lead is such a cutie! and will most likely be the ultimate reason why I will keep watching :)))))
But just for the record, Matsuda Shota > Lee Sang Yoon Hahaha >:D

Ciao!
