The whole inauguration day moved me so much, really. And then, to top it off, my friend pointed out to me that the Stonewall riots are mentioned in a favorable light on the White House web site. I feel kind of in shock at the possibility of not being marginalized by society and the government for my queerness. This is gonna take some getting used

Thanks for this! It is even better than seeing the SF Gay Men's Chorus singing during the big concert celebration a couple of days ago.

Most of what's penetrated my deeply angry and full of hate for presidential politics etc exterior has been seeing people's reactions. I swear everyone I ran into on the street yesterday around Oakland was just nicer: warmer, smilinger, more connected. I love feeling like the word community actually means something with my neighbors. Also, watching Michelle and Barry dancing to Beyonce's cover of At Last really made beam. Silly symbol maybe but the white house filled with a black family has just got to mean something better for our culture.

I was impressed that he talked about us "non-believers" no president has ever incorporated muslims AND atheists!

There was a nice post on a blog I like about how the author felt hearing the president say the word Hindu.
