hhholiday made the best dinner last night with veggies from
our new CSA. Roasted beets, carrots, squash and leeks. The green part of the leeks was crunchy and caramel-y. And pasta with green garlic and ricotta. Damn. The veggies were amazing already, but then when I followed a bite of veggies with a bite of pasta -- oh my god -- a whole new range of flavors exploded in my mouth. I spent the whole night basking in how LUCKY I feel that we eat so well, and that my girlfriend is a magician in the kitchen. Damn.
seyewailo just told me, upon seeing that we've got yet another huge box filled with styrofoam packing peanuts, about a recent episode of Iron Chef. Apparently some chef used cellulose packing peanuts in his menu. Drilled holes in them with a laser (???) and cooked them up in a sauce. Schman-say! He won, too.
I finally made plans with
pantryslut to go out for Korean food. Yay!!!!!!
I'm starting an Oakland Supper Club. Once a month, go out to a restaurant in Oakland. Let me know if you want to come along.
