"...keep your eye on the donut, and not the hole..."

How very frustrating. I mean, today is Monday, and it appears that NO CINEMA IN THE ENTIRE WORLD yet knows what it'll be screening this Friday. I need to know where I'll be able to see INLAND EMPIRE, which will be the film of the year. Better than any other movie you might see this year. It'll be great. Well, it's by David Lynch, the second greatest living human being, so it's bound to be wonderful. If it isn't, I'll top myself.

But I can't find out where I'll be able to see it. Or, therefore, what silly amount of distance I'll have to travel to see it, as I'm sure there will be no bugger showing it in Reading. Ah, well. *sigh*

Just so long as I get to see the thing as soon as is humanly possible, on a nice big screen.

I've just had a thought; the ONLY of Lycnh's films I've not seen on the big screen are The Elephant Man, and Dune. All the others I've seen, all from Twin Peaks on release, and the others in a retrospective.

It's been so long since I've been to a gig. I think it may have been Tender Trap, last year, at the Windmill in Brixton. Or Moz at the Hexagon, Reading. One of them. I forget which was first. In anycase, they were the ONLY two gigs I went to last year. Whatever happened to the days of four Pixies gigs in four days...?

I think a lot of the trouble is that these days it seems that I never hear about gigs until it's too late. Bert out of Suede is doing a gig tonight, and by the time I knew about that (late last week when the Mrs managed to blag a ticket for herself) it was too late to get a ticket (without looking at the huge touty prices on eBay). For all I know, the Pixies, Tender Trap, Mozza etc could be touring later this year.

(Just checked; no Tender Trap gigs.)

Oh, I dunno. I could do with a website that emails out details of gigs each day, so that I could keep on top of what's what, but I don't know if such a beastie exists.

(Ticketmaster sends me such emails, but they're pants as they never tell me anything useful. Ever. I remember last year, they sent me one about Mozza dates an hour after they went on sale, and thus about half an hour after they'd sold out. Useless.)

In other news, I've written 500-ish words of a new novel. It'll be great.

I have also entered the modern age and got myself an MP3 player. It's about as far froma top-end Ipod as you can get, though. I got it, on impulse, in Tescos, and it cost me all of £4.97. It only holds 256 (well, 238, once the counting fiddle is accounted for) megabytes of stuff, but that's really enough for the purposes I'll be using it.

And I want to go to Paris to see the David Lynch exhibition. I'd like to just head over there in the morning on the Eurostar, hop off, go to the exhibition, meander round a bit, and then head back in the evening. A day trip to France. It'd be great. I've just got to work out which day is cheapest for Eurotunnel fares...
