Moving to Austin

Hi all!

I know someone recently posted about shopping in Austin, TX, but I'm about to up and move there soon. Any tips on... life? Any suggestions on living the fat life there?

I was the one that posted, and I was there to scope the living situation out. I didn't get a chance to check out the stores mentioned, the comments came too late, but I was definitely underwhelmed by the fat life there :( I did have lots of luck at the Torrid in The Domain, found some great dresses I'd never have seen on the clearance rack here in Atlanta...but most of the places I hung out were very hipster filled and I didn't really see a single person over a size 10. it's a very fit city it appears because everyone bikes and there's a pretty concentrated veggie/clean eating atmosphere

that's just my two cents, though! hopefully a real austinite will have better input

That's really good advice. The hubby and I are planning to move in the next year or so (I'm shooting for sooner), so any input at all is helpful.

I was born in Austin. They have amazing food here. ;) everyone is super friendly and I've never had fat hate issues. I get clothes at the usual places but mostly shop online because I'm lazy. I'd move here for the people and the city rather than the shopping. Most places downtown are geared toward hipsters and skinny folks because of the college there. Widen the circle and you can find plenty of places. Hope you enjoy living here!
