Where can I find plus size belly dance costumes?
Hello, everyone!
I recently treated myself to a few belly dance instructional DVDs for my birthday. I've never belly danced before.
I thought finding a costume to practice in would be easy due to all of the fantastically curvy dancers I've seen on youtube, but I'm having a difficult time finding base pieces that are plus size. I did look back at the posts tagged "belly dancing", but most of them are many years old and most of the ebay, etsy, etc. sellers linked in them are no longer around.
I'm typically an 18/20 on top (42DDD) and a 22/24 on the bottom, and I love bright colors, especially cool colors like blues, greens, and purples. I notice from most of the sites I've googled that many folks sew their own costumes, but I'm not terribly skilled in that department and would prefer to start out with a pre-made costume for now. I'm also not really looking for the workout clothing + hip scarf thing I see a lot, as I have a ton of that already for kickboxing and yoga. I really want something pretty to practice being sexy in.
So if anyone could suggest their favorite plus size websites or sellers for belly dance skirts, tops, belts and bras, I'd be ever so grateful.
