Cute Plus-Size Apron?

Jan 14, 2013 22:00

I'm on the hunt for a plus-size apron, preferably made for a size 24 or 3x. I'm willing to try sewing it myself, but I don't think I have the skills to adapt a sewing pattern to be a larger size.

Any suggestions? I have seen a few on Etsy, but most of them are more for 1x or 2x.

Do any of you have an apron you like? If so, where did you get it? ( Read more... )

Boojiboo on etsy goes up to a real 4X in several styles and since they make their own patterns, they could probably do one of their other styles in a bigger size if needed.

Oh! Thank you, I love these!

Are you sure they go up to 4X? They seem to be one-size-fits-most.

There's an etsy shop called Haute Mess and they make the cutest aprons EVER - http://www.etsy.com/shop/HauteMessThreads - most of the ones she's got listed are "one size fits most", but I know the shop owner does everything by hand and she's super easy to work with and super talented (I have one of the aprons, it's so cute and so well-made, I don't even want to cook in it) , you should contact her and see if she can hook you up!

Kind of expensive, but that R2D2 apron is AMAZING, and I love the fact that most of the aprons have coordinated oven mitts.

I know it's random, but I found some super cute aprons right before Thanksgiving at Home Goods. It may be worth a visit if you have one near you. I'm a 26/28 and the adult ones fit me just fine. They have a bunch of different styles but they all seem super cute. They do hang off your neck, but you can tuck that under and just wear the ruffley part that ties around your waist.

Oh, I don't care that much about the apron hanging off my neck. I'm sure it would be fine.

I know of a Home Goods kind of near where I work, so I'll have to check that out! Thank you!

I had an apron custom made for me by prettylittlepearl on Etsy a few years ago http://www.etsy.com/shop/prettylittlepearl#
Gretchen was a doll to work with, though it seems now that she is only selling apron patterns? Still might be worth a shot contacting her if you like what you see.

Yeah, totally! She might be able to sell me a pattern in my size. Thank you.

I bought my favorites at TJ Maxx and Ross... I am a home ec teacher so I wear them often. I'm a size 26/28 on bottom and 20/22/24 on top, straight sized aprons fit fine.

I'll bet! I don't have those stores around here, but I think they're in the same mega-chain as Marshalls and Home Goods, which I will definitely investigate.

My favorite teacher in middle school was the home ec teacher. That's a cool job. :)
