Slacks for a Slacker

Hey.  So I need some help here.. I'm entering into the back office side of the medical field and I need some recommendations for pants.  I've been out of the slacks game forever so that's why I'm asking here.  5'3", thick-legged, apple shaped size 28.  Anyone have experience with brands or styles that are regular rise, not too wide in the legs but

My mom is a lot taller than you but about the same size, and she loves Lands End's slacks (though they can be a bit pricey).
